My opinion:

          Good, this second instalment takes place just where first one ended and even better we get several point of view as the action takes place in each realms so we can follow what happen to the hunters compound, in the human realm and in the demons one.

Killian has an hard time to cope with everything but loosing Cassidy is the worse so he is willing to work with Tyler even if he is part demon to save her. In the meantime he is searching for allies to rebuild his clan compound and get ready for the war to come. When an angel comes to help it's great but sadly not enough either.

In this book we get to see another side of Killian too he can be really patient and tender.

Cassidy is confronted to things she never expected and it does impact her deeply but since book 1 we know she is strong so seeing her in such a state in moving. Her courage and determination are really showing as despite everything she still think of others.

Tyler learns more about himself but also meet potential allies in Farron and Siobhan...not a friendship but a gesture of faith in a sense and we will get to see if his mind is as strong as we could believe as he has a lot to face from now on.

Really i enjoyed that the quality of writing stayed the same and to see what happen in the demons realm was really interesting. There were moving moments, lot of actions . We do learn a lot but the author also put the elements needed for the war to come answering questions and adding more  as well.

The ending is a bit hard as cliffhanger so i can't wait to jump in book 3

              it's a new week and with the end of the year at the horizon the stress of getting ready in gift making is growing. However, this month there is a read along that seemed very tempting and book 1 was free so i had to join and i'm not regretting it at all .

My opinion:

          Great first instalment in an excellent YA urban fantasy....we are immediately immerged  in a universe captivating and it becomes quickly a real page turner.

I loved Cassidy, she is courageous and even if she is suffering she wants to help others...she is thrown into a world she had no ideas existed, she gets injured and she still wants to save her friends.

Killian is young but already a leader so when Cassidy follows him she become his responsibility even if deep down something else is growing. He is courageous, determined to do good by his clan even if it means not following his heart.

The secondary characters like Casper are also really interesting and we want to learn more about them.

There are a lot of violence - but they are fighting demons after all,- some moments  are really tearful and at other time we are smiling or laughing so this story really has it all and i do recommend you to try it if you are interested.

the only  thing a little bothersome is the cliffhanger but book 2 is already out so if you want you don't need to wait before continuing their adventures.

                       I wanted to post this a few days ago but i came accross technical difficulties added to bad news that took me down ( since then a wonderful news changed the whole situation thankfully) so i'm late and i'm sorry for that. I do plan to read more before the end of the year so you will get more posts but for new i must tell you about a new release in a series i follow with a lot of pleasure: The Peacesmith series by Carly Hansen

My opinion:

           A series of quality....it's not always true that  series keep the same level of quality in the writing and in the content but so far with this one i haven't been disappointed at all; it still really well written and the suspense is still there making us want more...it's even slightly better i would say.

Fenix is maturing but not too quickly which is good seeing her age and the  time between each book, poor girl keeps having things throw at her and she sure adapts better that i would. She is conscious of her responsibilities but she is also able to ask for help when needed and i really loved that about her. More importantly she is very loyal.

 i loved to see her ready to fight for what she believes in and at the same time preferring if other solutions were possible.  We learn a bit more about her powers in each book as she is discovering them or learning from Gaius however i would said that this time we do see her practice and  start believing in her powers more but we learn more about the villains for once....

Micha the vampire is still trying to be a good guy but he has some difficulties which kind of make me even more curious about what will happen. He does open more to Fénix as well - something which she still should do-

This time we are confronted to Alda big enemy who allied herself with Micha's so a war is brewing , lot of action and fight and in the middle of that  the same two police officers are trying to get a grip of what is happening ( for one at least the other is more on a revenge path) while completely blinded by their short views or misconceptions.

it's really a promising urban fantasy that i take pleasure reading and next book will be one i will look forward to.

Last week i was lucky to receive a magical box sent by the author D. E. Night which included an arc of her new release " The Crowns of Croswald"...to be exact it was really a well thought and magical created box that could only catch my interest and makes me want to discover more.

My opinion:

           A magical, mysterious universe that, at some points, can remind us of Harry Potter for its enchantments. That's the first thing that came to me when i was reading it's not the same and in this book so far the majority of the main characters and big secondary one are females. But we also have someone discovering the Magic that she knew existed though, an head of school we are not 100% trusting and  ghosts in the school as well as magical portrait..... if you have read Harry Potter those are elements that ring a bell.

That being said it was really a pleasure to discover this universe along Ivy and there is a lot we sill have to learn i'm sure. Ivy is a loving character, she is determined, loyal, has a good heart and is quite courageous. She does what she feels is right and that can lead her to dangerous situation but she is also apt to make good friends in unlikely place. For example, she saved a dragon.... i must said that "dragon oven" had me smiling but Humboldt is really funny and i'm sure he will have a role to play later and a dragon as a pet is always fun. She is also friend with a dwarf and from what i gathered in that universe it's really uncommon as they have a bad reputation.. At school she has friends, allies and enemies ( really i can't stand Damaris) because the school has two sections: for the noble  who get their magic from their crown, and  another : the scrivenist  who learn magic that is inside them. They are taught together but of course some think themselves superior when they are in fact complementary.

Ivy always had dreams about a castle and someone there that she feel is calling to her....Determined to free him when she learns he  is someone forgotten by magic , a curse that doesn't affect her, she is jumping from an adventure to another all while trying to fit in and learn which isn't that easy.

I don't want to reveal too much as there are some twists and some secrets we only got partial answers to but it's definitively a great story. I would appeal to younger ones as well as older ones that long for more magical universe well written. It has action, just a touch of romance, intrigue, mystery and humour. If you loved Harry Potter and want more it will be a good discovery if you haven't read it you will discover a fantastic universe to be introduced to. I recommend it with lot of pleasure and can't wait for the next instalment hoping the quality will continue to be that good.( A glossary would be very helpful in the future.)

My opinion:

          The first book was surprising, this one keeps the excellent quality of the story! We find Fenix and her friends just a few weeks after the events in book 1 and there is a lot of tension brewing. Fenix still need to adjust to her new role and she has a lot to learn while trying to keep it a secret from anyone else.

Alda is a b**** since she lost her treasured motorcycle and is making anyone crazy with strange demands but in fact the situation is deeper than that as Fenix will know.

Fenix is really an heroine we love to follow, she is true to her heart and always protect others, she isn't telling her secret not because she doesn't need understanding but because in that universe where magic is illegal knowing someone has some is already a crime. So she stays silent to protect them.

Gaïus is her mentor but we can see he was still in training...he isn't bad but he is too centered on the peacesmith thing and doesn't realise that it could take different forms...i don't like him a lot not that he is bad but often he is more a burden than a help or at least he feels like it.

On a trip to try to calm Alda, Fenix touches a damaged car and has the vision of a baby....immediately she is decided to save him, no matter the risk and that leads her directly to fayland...not and peaceful place and more dangerous, a place where her magic is bound. So it's without magic and only her courage and the helps of her allies that she will try the impossible.

The rhythm is quick as, the time is running and we keep turning the page to see more so the investigation is good with some twists and it's a great story.

We see how being a peacesmith is natural to Fenix, in fact and she is doing the job....i guess i only regret she didn't speak to Petunia but then it's only the romantic part of me that would have thought that to be a great bonus.

It's a  series i do want to continue as we still have a lot to discover.

I know i should have picked a sequel for today review but i had a book received for free that sounded too tempting so i had to give it a try even if it was a new author to me... i will read two sequels after i guess^^

Anyway, today i'm introducing you to a dark YA Urban fantasy....the next books are already released so better to start with book 1 ( because it's not a series you could read out of order for sure) Blood Bound by Sharon Stevenson

My opinion:

          Interesting first instalment but not enough background info....that was my feeling at the beginning of the book and sadly it stayed well after the last page. I liked the characters but i don't really understand the universe...Shaun and Sarah are demon trackers that was aid and repeated yes and we learn that it gives them some special powers oki....looks like there is some kind of organisation as well and their family is an important one....but why, how? who decided what creature are "good" or evil and right at the beginning we learn that Shaun was gravely hurt ( lost an eye) but not when or how...why he never accepted his power and wants a normal life? how was he raised?

I think some of these answers were needed to make this book even better and i do hope we will get them in the next one so that we really can understand Shaun and Sarah Better because at some time they are very, VERY confusing.

That being said the story is promising, there area lot of violence, some graphic, some no but the suspense and investigation give it a form of balance...some secondary characters are intriguing ( Elle) some are moving ( Katie), Ray is touching.....Dev i don't like him at all.. i don't want to reveal too much but there is another one you will probably hate if you are like me^^

Between Shaun and Sarah i really prefer Shaun, he is suffering but trying his best to adjust...Sarah is too single minded and while she wants to help her reckless attitude cause more damage than help.

So you like dark urban fantasy (with vampire, fae and others creatures) you could give this one a try knowing you will have a lot of unanswered questions, for my part i want to see what happen next before i decide for good where to shelve this book.

So with the sun shining, i decided to make a break in the InCryptid universe ( wouldn't want you to get fed up of it) and jump back in the universe created by Anne Bishop in her " The Others" series...the next book is only available in hardback for now so it will probably be long before i get my hand on it but  i will for sure

My opinion:

          Finally! finally i could read this,  the wait was so long but it was worth it ( Thank you once again Carien!!)

The author is really talented to keep the series entertaining  giving us more info on the Others but also making us more curious by adding more secrets and tension. The relationship between Meg and Simon or Meg and the Others in general is still very interesting with a lot of funny moments.

However i must also admit that Anne Bishop wrote this one a lot darker than the first books, yes there were still humor but it seemed less with the tension and more profound moment....i don't want to spoil anything to you so i won't explain just telling you that your heart will constrict at time and perhaps tissue will be needed. No fear though those moments  are spaced and in between you have fun, action and all you need. Meg, in a sense, is becoming more mature, trying to understand her need better to help others girls like her of course that doesn't go as smoothly as we would have wished for her.

We still see Sam and Skippy ^^  both still so adorable, the girls gang is still fierce together (Vlad really prefer to have them one at a time coming to speak to him than together^^ yes we can be worse than a vampire). Simon is acting like a real leader....as well as like a puppy at a time ( too , too funny^^)

The story is fascinating, the tension between and into each group  is growing and loyalties are tested...letting us know that we will see more later.( And that's teh reason i should never start a book in this series in teh evening because i can't stop reading it even if it's way too late ( or too early in this case)

So this is a series i really want to continue and i can't wait to get my hand on book 4 and waiting for book 5 already.

My opinion:

          An excellent beginning for an urban fantasy series! Since i'm a roleplaying gamer ( though never online) i was very curious about this title even more since it had Magic yes but also shifter so when i got the opportunity to discover it in exchange for a review i was delighted.

It's really good and it makes it difficult to decide by what to start^^. The characters, i love Alex he is a panther shifter and in this universe it means that he is spending the majority of the time in animal form, even better he is deeply loyal so he won me over immediately.

Kat, it took a bit longer for me to warm up to her....she had to face a lot at a young age: she has been adopted and her adopted parents died not long before the beginning of the story so she still has difficulties to cope with that. She spend most of her time playing a roleplaying game online where she is Serafina a big powerful sorceress...i guess that yes it's healthier than drugs etc but  as a gamer i love the relationship we can forge with other player in real life so it bothered me a little that she never tried to at least meet those she is in a team with especially when we discover how close she is to some of them like GreyMist.

Kat is still young so when something really magical comes at her she panics...learning who was her real mother isn't easier to accept but being a mage and having a talisman that she can't control that's terrifying and she is determined first not to believe it and when forced to she want to take it off and go back to normal life... it seemed a bit strange to me but also understandable what bothered me was how she trusted more easily Casper that she did with Alex who proved himself.( and hey he is a shifter^^)....suddenly Kat is all willing to learn magic and with Casper...she never once ask how he knew her mother (he tells her a little but proof? none) . Terrified that  someone is trying to kill her she jumps at any chance to be safe or so she thinks...only when her friend start to be in danger that she acts a little more mature and  i appreciated her courage.

The story doesn't really end on a cliffhanger even if it's clear that  a lot more is to come but i was happy with this ending and i would love to see more of Kat as she learns about Elustria and her mother but also i want more of Alex and i'm curious about which other magical creatures we will discover next. The author showed in this one how she could keep us intrigued and immersed in the story so i have good hope for book 2

It's definitively a series i hope to continue and i do recommend it if you love urban fantasy

Hello to all!

                 Sorry to post this review so late this week, lately i have been having some difficulties to  keep up with my planned schedule, i will do better.

Today, i'm sharing with you my opinion on the first book in the Descendants series by Melissa Wright. I've been eying this book for age and i even got the ebook  when it was free a long time ago so it was in the digital TBR pile and when you know me you know that the pile that takes me the longest to tackle. What can i say, i'm a print book girl ^^.

Fortunately for me,  the author organised a contest for her latest release during the holidays and i found myself delighted to receive the long awaited print copy of  Bound by Prophecy.... strangely it was read a lot quicker ;)

My opinion:

         I had my eyes set on this book for a long, long time before i finally got the opportunity to read it so i had hight expectations but i wasn’t disappointed. The writing is fluid and the plot well thought even if in the beginning i was a little lost i must admit, i easily  got immersed in the story following Aern and Emily once the author revealed tibits of their pasts.

Aern is courageous and determined, he grew up  knowing he would play a role for his people and always he wanted to protect them even if it means to be the one suffering under his sadist brother. Brother, Morgan, who is a real lunatic with only one goal:  control the universe! Aern has values and he fights for them.

 Emily is the same, her mother told her a lot of things when she was little but the main was: protect your twin sister. She has learned things about Aern ‘s people but never really trusted her mother so she only has partial info, some elements she remembers. Still she wants to protect Brianna and is ready to fight and take high risk for that. It’s one of teh reason she accept to follow Aern at first not trusting her growing feelings.

 I liked to see them come to terms with their childhood and what they were told and finally starting to make their own decision.

There was some violence in the book  for sure but also some romance and a lot of action.  I’ve saw that an omnibus exist for this series and i do think it’s a good news because while this book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger per say,  i think the story would gain from being in read in once sitting.

Hello to all!

                      Already September so only 3 months to finish all the handmade gifts i have planned.. the stress level is going up for sure but  this year i do want to manage my time better which means keeping some time to read as well.
However, we are not that far ahead yet.. i have two birthday to prepare this month and it's the priority...

 That being said i do want to share with you as well so today i'm introducing you to  J. C. Diem and her Shifter Squad which i just discovered.

My opinion:

          To be honest , the beginning put me off a little...i’m not fond of guns in general ( it’s not in my culture) and a father who teaches his child that has me ill at ease , now the fact he is military softened it  too it’s a little more understandable even if i’m not confortable with that idea... however i’m really glad i haven’t stopped reading at that point because this is simply excellent!!

Where to start...the world building is more than well done you can easily imagine that(s our world or a parallele ones ( if that rassures you ;))  the author’s writing style is really addictive and i’m curious about discovering her other series to see if  i love it as much as this one.

 The characters , you immediately guess what the team members are even without having read the blurb ( oki the titles helps) . They are simply too well written and J C does gives us  hints about the nature of each one. I love Kala and Flynn  they are welcoming and so positive, while Kala is a bubble of energy and love to tease Reece and the others, Flynn is the calm before the tempest. Charming, smiling and very understanding you don’t suspect the force he has.Reece, that’s another matter.. he is an alpha put in the beta role since Mark Steel is the official chief, i guess it must not always be easy for him  and he has quite a temper. He isn’t easy to understand but even when he is terribly grumpy you can’t resist to like him as you guess how good he must be inside. He probably is the one who is the most conscious of what is at stake and how their job and  more could simply disappear if some just decided how expendabel they are.... he is so protective that it’s too cute.

Mark Steele has saved them and he got the post of alpha in that group as well as officially. He trusts his tem and will do anything to protect them i really liked that about him. However i do think he somehow failed in that roles by not understanding wjhat is happening to Lexi earlier.

Lexi has always dreamed to join military but never expected it to happen so soon or that way. While practicing her sniper skill she is approached by a man, Mark, who knows her father and require her talents...soon she join his team while not aware of all what it entails. I did love how serious Lexi is and how she needs her father’s answer before truisting Mark and following him. The way she tried to adapt the situation was both admirable and cute as it showed her real age. Her crush on Reece had me smiling.

 The plot was well twisted not completely unpredictable but with enough dosis of surprise and you get engrossed into the story very easily and when it’s done you can’t keep turning the page....sadly it end on a cliffhanger which i hate but the main mission has a conclusion and i’m so eager for the next book that  the cliffhanger is nearly forgotten.

I do plan to follow this series as soon as i can and to continue to tell you what i think of it , book 6 will be released soon so  if you want to try it it’s time if you are lucky you will still find book 1 free in digital book on amazon when you are finishing reading this post.

How to date an Alien ( My Alien romance1) by Magan Vernon

Hello to all!

                   for this week review i'm back to the trend that i unconsciously started some weeks ago: the paranormal romance including alien(s).....i'm now free of it but i did read several that i wanted to share with you before changing again. I have been surprised to own so many alien romance (ranging from PG to erotic ones) and i have been enjoying reading several of them in a row to change a little from shifters who stay my favourite.

Today i'm sharing with you one of the softest alien romance i've read and enjoyed this summer, if you are lucky you could even grab the digital copy free on smashwords ( and perhaps on amazon but i can't guaranty it as it depends on where you live). The series is even complete so  if you want more you could indulge it this summer without delay.

My opinion:

          Somehow i’m finding myself reading more paranormal roamnce with aliens than i imagined owning, this time i picked a YA one and Magan Vernon did a great job i think  to create a univers quite fun with a whole range of aliens of all colors and kind (  i’m still smilling at the idea of the orange “plush” one) and the story  while not fully original  still give you a great time as teh author  is making a comparaison between the aliens organisation and an high school social division

I wanted a light read  this summer and this one is just perfect in that sense... there are things that don’t make sense because really  what kind of father would bring his chil  to confront aliens without telling her about it a minimum, without ghiving her a list of what to do or not to do BEFORE she encounters the first one. Yes it’s a secret operation but still.... so yes that parts and some other don’t make sense but at the same time it didn’t bother me at all as i was fully enjoying the story. I would have loved to get a little more of the alien side about teh situation in Circe because for the majority of the book we have the main Hero Ace, the doctor and then some other that speak a little but it’s mostly from  Alex side and the interns ( bad Riley and malcom!)’ one so majoritary human.

Alex is an heroine to like as she is intelligent and still quite naive but also determined when it comes to her love and friends.. she is a normal human girl who prefer to study than to hang out and i could easily related with her and imagine her situation. Ace on the other side is still very mysterious we don learn part of his past, his identity but  that’s so little!

The story is quite fast paced but it’s a rythm that works wonderfully with this story so i would be curious to follow up this series as i’m sure there is still a lot to learn ( book 2 and 3 are already available) So if you want a fun and enjoyable reads  this is one that could be great to try especially if you can try it for free ^^
