Short description from goodread :

Dulcinea Craven descends from a long line of witches, and she has just inherited wild, untrained magical powers that she has no idea how to control. Now a ruthless vampire and an age-old demon are determined to enslave Cin and steal her power for their own. Her only hope is The Righteous, a band of warrior vampires who slay the rogue undead. Among them is Michael, a fierce swordsman who inflames Cin’s most primal hungers. Showing her a sensual pleasure beyond anything in the mortal realm, she must choose between the human existence she has always known, and immortality as a vampire—a new life filled with forbidden urges, dark yearning, and unearthly passions…

My opinion:

I’m not sure how to qualify this book even several hours after finishing it. The book is good and I spend a good moment but nothing more; perhaps it’s not fantasy enough or it wasn’t what I expected, it’s really difficult to explain.
The description of the proper behaviour at that time and the personality and behaviour of the characters are well written and clear even if you don’t know a lot about it. So you have no problem to enter the universe also the way the story is done catch the attention of the reader immediately, you just listen to the story of Cin and her ancestry all is linked and useful.

I found Cin to be an enjoyable character, loyal, stubborn and very mature for her age like her conception of God show it. The way she encompass both the old magic and the religion is well done.  The other characters are well constructed too and we learn nearly all their history in this first book.

The romance is cute and strong, the way Dulcinea thinks that the way her body and mind react is a power of Michael as a vampire when it’s only because for the first time she is really attracted to a male. How Michael wants to protect her and respect her rank is in the same time touching and frustrating. I just regret that she had to make such a sacrifice with such a great cost.

I will happily read the other books of the series and see if it grows even better because there is a good potential I think. So more for the fan of paranormal romance than fantasy but if you want romance no matters the kind, this is a great book to try.
