Back cover description from goodread :

What do you do when your knight in shining armor lives, literally, in a different world?

Most American teenagers want a vacation in Italy, but the Betarrini sisters have spent every summer of their lives among the romantic hills with their archaelogist parents. Stuck among the rubble of the medieval castles in rural Tuscany, on yet another hot, dusty archaeological site, Gabi and Lia are bored out of their minds...until Gabi places her hand atop a handprint in an ancient tomb and finds herself in fourteenth-century Italy. And worse yet, in the middle of a fierce battle between knights of two opposing forces.

Suddenly Gabi's summer in Italy is much, much more interesting.

My opinion:

I really loved it. I wanted this book for a long time because of the plot. I often dreamed of going in the past so the time travel was very interesting for me and I’m not disappointed.  Gabriella, alias Gabi, is a strong heroine. Lost in a time she had an opportunity to learn more of it but wasn’t interested at the moment, she is trying to remember what she can to do the best of it. She isn’t crying, helpless waiting for something to happen. She tries to make it happen.
Her objective is to find and save her sister, for that she takes great risks , she stay the same even if it means to be seen not as a proper woman of the time she is in. And she even tries to do the right thing for the man she has come to love even if it means hurting herself. For that I admire her and she can be a example to some girls.
Her sister,Lia, isn’t left being but perhaps because she is younger she is also more egoistic. She doesn’t take in consideration her Gabi’s feeling before it’s too late and it’s sad but also understandable.
Marcello and Luca are strong and all knight so it’s difficult not to love them but I also appreciated Fortino who suffers but still make his best to help where and when he can.

In the story we can see how honour can clash with feeling, responsibility with dreams and it’s really well written. We find all what makes history: arranged marriage, poisoning, political alliances, traitors and heros.

A special mention to the cover not only the colour and elements are perfect for the story but it’s so smooth… I really appreciated it make the book seems even more valuable. However, what I would have liked  is to have as a bonus pages some drawing of the cloths for example so the younger readers could see more easily what the author speak of, or a drawing of the land, etc.

I can’t wait to read the others books of the series, and I recommend this book to the ones who love history, sweet romance and a bit of mystical feelings.

Score:  4,5/5

What a great review. I like how you characterized her here: " She isn’t crying, helpless waiting for something to happen. She tries to make it happen." It sounds like she's really likeable!
