A Charming Blend ( a Magical Cures Mystery and A Killer Coffee Mystery crossover Mystery) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all!!!

I hope you had a great relaxing Sunday which allowed you some good reading time. Mine was quite busy in fact but this novella was simply the perfect reads i needed excellent and not long  ( really could have been longer but then no time for the rest of daily tasks).
It's a cross over as it's said in the title but while i've started bothj series i'm way behind in at least one of them and still could enjoy this novella without troubles so  don't hesitate and try it!

Happy reading!

Description from goodreads :

You won’t want to miss this crossover tale of two of your favorite cozy mystery sleuths, June Heal from the Magical Cures Mystery Series and Roxanne Bloom from the Killer Coffee Series.

When Roxy Bloom and Patrick Cane got a gift card at the Full Moon Treesort in Whispering Falls, Kentucky, they figured it’d be a fantastic honeymoon.

When June Heal heard from the Whispering Falls Newspaper report from editor Faith Mortimer that there was a nosy coffee barista coming to town and she needed an eye kept on her, June was quick to put Mr. Prince Charming on the tourist, Roxanne Bloom.

When a dead body is discovered during the annual Whispering Fall tree lightening, Roxy Bloom just can’t seem to keep her nose out of it, even though she feels like something strange is going on in the cozy town.

June Heal is using powers, she never thought she’d use, to keep tourist Roxy Bloom away from the crime scene.

Will the two feisty sleuths come together to solve this murder before Roxy’s honeymoon is over or before June Heal uses all of her powers to keep Roxy away from their secrets of Whispering Falls?

My opinion:
This is a novella so of course it feels too short but still it's a wonderful cross over between two great series. Even if i'm not up to date in both series i didn't feel like i was missing any important info so this a wonderful advantage for those who would be new to one or both series.

Magic and christmas is a good mix when you add a little investigation in it.

I recommend this novella to both readers of the series Killer coffee series and/or Magical Cures Mystery series but also to those simply wanting a good novella set at Christmas time with a good dosis of humour and romance.

Unwrapping Her Perfect Match ( London Legends 3.5) by Kath Latham

Hello to all,

i'm sory for not having a post up last week but i spent most of my time at teh emergency and then at hospital for more exams for my mother so reading time was nil . i do have something for you today though and more later this week with even a giveaway perhaps so be patient please

Today i'm giving you my opinion on a holidays romance, a novella in a sport romance series by Kat Latham that i've been wanting to read for quite a moment now so when i got the opportunity to review this novella i didn't hesitate and i'm so happy i jumped at the chance.

Happy reading!

Description from goodreads :

’Twas a week before Christmas, and at the auction house…

At six foot one, Gwen Chambers has felt like a giant her whole life. She’s a calm, capable nurse saving lives in a busy London hospital, but healthy men give her heart palpitations. When larger-than-life rugby player “Little” John Sheldon convinces her to bid on him in his team’s fundraising auction, she discovers how pleasurable heart palpitations can be.

A rugby player was stirring, with desire no one could douse…

John has wanted Gwen since he first saw her, but when he’s injured in a match just before Christmas he suddenly needs her too. Not only can the sexy nurse help him recover, but she might be able to help him look after his daughter—a shy ten-year-old who speaks only French.

But will it be a Happy Christmas for all, and for all a good night?
From decorating the Christmas tree to ice skating at the Tower of London, Gwen helps father and daughter open up and bond with each other—and she bonds right along with them. But when John’s agent calls with a life-changing offer, Gwen has to decide how far she’s willing to go for her perfect match. Will their first Noël also be their last?

My opinion:
A wonderful insight in the series, an appetizer for the new readers and a sweet treat for the already fan of the series.
Kat Latham makes a good job of giving enough information so we can immediately settle in the story of  John and Gwen. Those two are simply perfect for each other but a little clumsy about their feeling .  I loved to see them learning about each other and their feeling, i also realy loved how Gwen was with John’s daugther.

It’s a really good  novella wih the magic of Christmas feeling  in the background and it made me want to read the complete series as soon as possible because i loved the group even if we only saw a few of  John’s teammates they won me over. I also hope it will give some explanation about John’s past because that side is a little left out , we know how he met  his daughter’s mother but that’s is.

I also guess that part of me was a little torn at the ending , it was moving , happy and at the same time it means i will miss John a lot but i can’t tell you more.

If you haven’t read this author yet, give this novella a try it will show you how well written this series is. If you love rugby romance and christma soen this is just your alley.

Great isn't it? And one added bonus for me, there is a light appearance of a ghost so it counts for another challenge too^^  (reading paradise^^)

Without waiting let's see if this book is for you: happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

While attempting to escape the agonizing memories she associates with Christmas, twenty-nine-year-old widow Megan Snow builds a snow family outside the mountain cabin she once shared with her husband-and collapses in tears against the snowman at the sight of what she'll never have.

Called to life by the power of Megan's tears, snow god Owen Winters appears unconscious on her doorstep in the midst of a raging blizzard. As she nurses him to health, Owen finds unexpected solace in her company and unimagined pleasure in the warmth of her body, and vows to win her heart for a chance at humanity.

Megan is drawn to Owen's mismatched eyes, otherworldly masculinity, and enthusiasm for the littlest things, and her heart opens enough to believe he's a Christmas miracle. But this miracle comes with an expiration-before the snow melts and the temperature rises, Megan must let go of her widow's grief and learn to trust love again, or she'll lose Owen forever.

My opinion:
I’ve waited so long for this book that when Anna offered to it I could hardly believe it but I’m so grateful because I really enjoyed this book from the dedication to the ending.

It could have been read around Christmas but the magic works all year, even in summer. I was moved by the story and the message that comes with it. Laura Kaye managed to create a really sweet romance, with steamy scenes in a universe I want more of. Here we discover the Anemoi, gods linked to the elements and the seasons, but we still know so little about them that I’m curious; however I don’t mean that something is missing no. We get exactly enough for understand the story of Owen and Megan, we get a glimpse of some others Anemoi and some information about how humans are affecting the planet and thus affecting said Anemoi.

Owen is a minor god of winter, after suffering from a bad separation, he decided to go elemental and stayed alone and hurt for eons….his childhood having been sad too Owen needs compassion and love. So when a deceased human come pleading the gods to make sure his wife, Megan, find happiness Boreas, main Anemoi of the winter, decide it’s a job for Owen. He has several reason for picking the one he treated as a son to offer him the opportunity to become human if Megan wish so but mostly Boreas seems to be a good guy.
Owen acts like a child, being a winter god he needs the snow and the cold to survive yes but he play with it, he love ice cream and he is just so touching…Megan’s husband, John, showed him Megan and told him about her but  each of her smile  is like a surprise and he become quickly addicted but always staying honourable and cute.

Megan is young but already she lost her beloved husband and she can’t overcome the pain and the guilt she is feeling. It has been two years but for her nothing has changed and she is feeling utterly alone in the cabin where she used to go on holidays for Christmas season with her husband… trying to fight the tears she builds a snowman but not wanting to see him alone like her she builds him a family until succumbing to the sadness. Later, during a snow storm a man nearly naked appears on her doorstep. He acts like a child but he is a sexy man who seems to know a lot about her. Slowly, she starts trusting him, guided by a voice in her mind, not expecting the magic behind everything. She is attracted to Owen, feel like she is destined to be with him but at the same time she is afraid to be disloyal to John and that’s keeping her for opening her heart completely. She is courageous, a strong heroine and I really liked her.

If you a looking for a cute paranormal romance with steamy scene this is a book for you, there is also a little message about the ecology but it’s not the principal message. The main one is that even after grief, love can still exist and it’s really well written. I will enjoy reading the rest of the series.
To recommend
