A Charming Blend ( a Magical Cures Mystery and A Killer Coffee Mystery crossover Mystery) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all!!!

I hope you had a great relaxing Sunday which allowed you some good reading time. Mine was quite busy in fact but this novella was simply the perfect reads i needed excellent and not long  ( really could have been longer but then no time for the rest of daily tasks).
It's a cross over as it's said in the title but while i've started bothj series i'm way behind in at least one of them and still could enjoy this novella without troubles so  don't hesitate and try it!

Happy reading!

Description from goodreads :

You won’t want to miss this crossover tale of two of your favorite cozy mystery sleuths, June Heal from the Magical Cures Mystery Series and Roxanne Bloom from the Killer Coffee Series.

When Roxy Bloom and Patrick Cane got a gift card at the Full Moon Treesort in Whispering Falls, Kentucky, they figured it’d be a fantastic honeymoon.

When June Heal heard from the Whispering Falls Newspaper report from editor Faith Mortimer that there was a nosy coffee barista coming to town and she needed an eye kept on her, June was quick to put Mr. Prince Charming on the tourist, Roxanne Bloom.

When a dead body is discovered during the annual Whispering Fall tree lightening, Roxy Bloom just can’t seem to keep her nose out of it, even though she feels like something strange is going on in the cozy town.

June Heal is using powers, she never thought she’d use, to keep tourist Roxy Bloom away from the crime scene.

Will the two feisty sleuths come together to solve this murder before Roxy’s honeymoon is over or before June Heal uses all of her powers to keep Roxy away from their secrets of Whispering Falls?

My opinion:
This is a novella so of course it feels too short but still it's a wonderful cross over between two great series. Even if i'm not up to date in both series i didn't feel like i was missing any important info so this a wonderful advantage for those who would be new to one or both series.

Magic and christmas is a good mix when you add a little investigation in it.

I recommend this novella to both readers of the series Killer coffee series and/or Magical Cures Mystery series but also to those simply wanting a good novella set at Christmas time with a good dosis of humour and romance.

Mocha and Murder (A Killer Coffee Mystery 2) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all!!!

Like i told you yesterday , this week was focused on me getting up to date in the Killer Coffee Mystery series by Tonya kappes with this second book freshly released....i can only say that it just get better to the point this series can be more addictive than coffee is for some.

Now, no need to wait longer and here is my opinion on Mocha and Murder!

Happy reading

Short description from goodreads :

Roxy becomes entangled in another murder as she puts her sleuthing skills to work in order to prove that Louise Carlton didn't kill Fred Hill over a pet adoption gone wrong. After all, if Louise goes to jail, who is going to find all the animals at Pet Palace a home

My opinion:
I loved it!!! really now that we know the setting and a bunch of characters we are immediately draw into the story and this one was quite surprising! Really the series just become even better and i guess this could work as a stand alone if you haven't read book 1 yet you do get enough info as not to be lost.

Roxy is still as funny and as strong as magnet for trouble and Patrick sure has a lot to do to care for her. I really loved how they decided to built their relationship. Bunny is still as funny and we do get to see aunt vs mom bickering and that was really too funny to see Roxy playing the adult one.

The pace is just perfect not too fast but not slow so you are so immersed that you read this in one setting and the plot is really, really well done with some twists and just the right amount of tips. We do see Pepper and Sassy and some new ones.

Also i loved to see how open Roxy was with her recipes and how attentive she is to her workers. We also still get the recipes to try ourselves

This series is really addictive and of great quality if you want some southern mystery this is definitively one to discover

Scene of the Grind (A Killer Coffee Mystery1) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all,

If you follow me for a moment you know that i really enjoy Tonya Kappes writings and i'm fond of several of her books. Last week, the second book in one of her series was released but unfortunately for me i still didn't read book 1 so i was behind and since i love to read in order i had to start with book 1 "Scene of the Grind" however it took me a moment to read it as we had temperature well above the normal for here and i was simply in no shape to read or do anything but i fully plan to make up for that by getting up to date in this series before the end of the week^^.

So here is my opinion on Scene of the Grind, first book in the Killer Coffee Mystery series... probably my least favourite book from this author at this point but still one i loved a lot simply not my top choice^^

happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

After a bitter divorce, Roxanne Davis (her friends, though few call her Roxie) has moved back home to Honey Springs, Kentucky where she's opened the tourist lakefront town's first coffee house, The Beanhive.

With the excitement of the Beanhive opening and rush of business, Roxie is moving on with her life until she finds that one of her best customers was found dead after eating one of Roxie's best-selling doughnuts.

Gossip in Honey Springs is as hot at the coffee served at the Beanhive and Roxie has to uncover who is behind the murder not only to save her shop, but her life.

My opinion:
It took a moment for me to get really into the story as the beginning is a bit slow while we learn about Roxy, her coffeehouse and Lakefront town but once the mystery starts we do follow Roxy with a lot of pleasure. Her romance was a bit quick but it does feel right and it's hard to resist Pepper.

I guess i just would have wanted to see more of Pepper somehow but we will hear more of him ( and of Sassy i hope) so perhaps i will love next book even more than this one.

The plot is well done, it was fun to discover some of the people living in the town , Bunny is really helpful and a bit like a sunshine even extra early, aunt Maxi must have a lot of secret and so many more to discover.

It's a good cozy mystery and i will be happy to continue the series. A bonus is the several recipes found in the book some i can't wait to try, i think that was a genius idea and so fitting the series and Roxy's passion.
