Welcome to Normal, Kentucky~ where nothing is normal.

Who served up the murder at Normal Diner?

A beloved resident of Normal, Kentucky is found dead on the floor of the Normal Diner, leaving the entire town on high alert. Faster than the short order cook can say order up... the laundry ladies are in the scene.

News spreads fast about the murder and Detective Hank Sharp is hungry for answers.

Mae West along with the Laundry Club ladies come up with a list of suspects and the evidence is piling up faster than a juicy double cheeseburger.

Who murdered the beloved citizen?

Was it a hit to score some extra lunch money?

My opinion:
While the culprit was evident for me since the beginning is till got immersed into the story and i was definitively more interested by Mae's past. We learned a bit about her past in precedent book but this time we get a real sight of part of it and it only brings more question which mean i can't wait to read next book..

This is really a great cozy mystery with a good read to keep you entertained until the last page and just leave you wanting for more. The characters are funny,  the feeling is good , the romance is cute really it 's a good instalment.
In fact this one could even be read as stand alone without trouble.

If you need a good cozy mystery during these difficult time, this is one you could binge on without hesitation or regret.

Short description from goodreads :

A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series has been optioned for film.Welcome to Normal, Kentucky~ where nothing is normal.A Campers and Criminal Mystery Series is another brainchild of USA Today Bestselling Author Tonya Kappes. If you love her quirky southern characters and small town charm with a mystery to solve, you're going to love her new cozy mystery series!

Everyone in Normal is excited for the Hoe Down to celebrate the opening of the new Old Train Station motel grand opening. The evening comes to an abrupt end when a lightning storm knocks out all the power. At least, that's what appears to have knocked out the electricity. But things aren't always as they appear.Mae West has a way of sticking her nose where it doesn't belong and finds herself in a dangerous situation when she finds a treasure map that leads to more than just treasure. . . a dead body

My opinion:
Normal is sure a place with a lot of murders and mystery and those attract Mae like nothing else....even when she wants nothing to do with it- for our pleasure-.

When Mae finds a new corpse during the grand opening of the new motel she can't stay away especially when friends ask her help...even if it makes her boyfriend edgy. She is loyal and determined  as well as clumsy ...so between murder, possible stolen, hidden money and her job at the camping she is very busy and need her gang from the laudromat to help her clear her mind.
There are a lot of humour with all the girls ( without forgetting the dogs always too cute and funny) and the space of the investigation is just great  with several twists . We follow her with a lot of pleasure and we do get our answers as well .

A great cozy mystery for an excellent reading time. even better read in order but perfect as stand alone.

Diggin 'up the Dirt ( Kenni Lowry 7) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all,

the changing time hit me full force and i feel like i have been hit by a truck ( but really how can we have 26°c and two days after 10cm of snow!in May!) however even a fever couldn't prevent me to read the new Kenni Lowry from Tonya Kappes ( even if i somewhat missed book 6, situation which i plan to rectify soon).

so without more delay...Happy Reading!

Description from goodreads :

Sweet as honey, soured by murder!

Everyone in Cottonwood loves the new bakery, Sweet Shop. Until a Cottonwood resident is found dead with a half-eaten donut in her hand.

Sheriff Kenni Lowry has her hands full. With a new murder in town and a new deputy to train, she’s not sure if she’s ever gonna get this booger solved.

Sheriff Elmer Sims comes to the rescue, stepping up as Kenni’s ghost deputy. As the ex-dead-now-ghost deputy and Kenni’s Poppa, there’s clues beyond the sprinkles in the donut that only he can see.

Add to Kenni’s stress, Finn Vincent’s, Kenni’s hunky boyfriend and new sheriff of Clay’s Ferry, parents have come to town to meet Kenni and her parents. And Kenni’s mama ain’t too happy. As they say in the South, nobody’s happy if mama ain’t happy.

With Poppa’s keen insight and Kenni’s determination, Kenni focuses all her attention on bringing the killer to justice before the yeast rises and another dead body turns up.

Save room for dessert. You don’t want to miss this Southern mystery!

My opinion:
I really loved this instalment but it's not my favourite either. The intrigue is perfect with false turns, deeper secret, and really a investigation great built. The characters are great as well , the clash between both families was funny , Kenni's mother is still all for appearances as well and i love the southern ambiance. Cottonwood drama is really fun to discover
However, i liked less all Kenni's doubts about Finn.....i do understand her mostly but at this point with the time they were together i think she should trust him more and not jump onto conclusion no matter what Poppa said. She disappointed me .

The story a was excellent blend between mystery, humour and the touch of romance, the author mislead the reader in the investigation which is really pleasant .

A great cozy mystery to be enjoyed without moderation. Better read in order of the series but works well as standalone too

Mocha and Murder (A Killer Coffee Mystery 2) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all!!!

Like i told you yesterday , this week was focused on me getting up to date in the Killer Coffee Mystery series by Tonya kappes with this second book freshly released....i can only say that it just get better to the point this series can be more addictive than coffee is for some.

Now, no need to wait longer and here is my opinion on Mocha and Murder!

Happy reading

Short description from goodreads :

Roxy becomes entangled in another murder as she puts her sleuthing skills to work in order to prove that Louise Carlton didn't kill Fred Hill over a pet adoption gone wrong. After all, if Louise goes to jail, who is going to find all the animals at Pet Palace a home

My opinion:
I loved it!!! really now that we know the setting and a bunch of characters we are immediately draw into the story and this one was quite surprising! Really the series just become even better and i guess this could work as a stand alone if you haven't read book 1 yet you do get enough info as not to be lost.

Roxy is still as funny and as strong as magnet for trouble and Patrick sure has a lot to do to care for her. I really loved how they decided to built their relationship. Bunny is still as funny and we do get to see aunt vs mom bickering and that was really too funny to see Roxy playing the adult one.

The pace is just perfect not too fast but not slow so you are so immersed that you read this in one setting and the plot is really, really well done with some twists and just the right amount of tips. We do see Pepper and Sassy and some new ones.

Also i loved to see how open Roxy was with her recipes and how attentive she is to her workers. We also still get the recipes to try ourselves

This series is really addictive and of great quality if you want some southern mystery this is definitively one to discover

Scene of the Grind (A Killer Coffee Mystery1) by Tonya Kappes

Hello to all,

If you follow me for a moment you know that i really enjoy Tonya Kappes writings and i'm fond of several of her books. Last week, the second book in one of her series was released but unfortunately for me i still didn't read book 1 so i was behind and since i love to read in order i had to start with book 1 "Scene of the Grind" however it took me a moment to read it as we had temperature well above the normal for here and i was simply in no shape to read or do anything but i fully plan to make up for that by getting up to date in this series before the end of the week^^.

So here is my opinion on Scene of the Grind, first book in the Killer Coffee Mystery series... probably my least favourite book from this author at this point but still one i loved a lot simply not my top choice^^

happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

After a bitter divorce, Roxanne Davis (her friends, though few call her Roxie) has moved back home to Honey Springs, Kentucky where she's opened the tourist lakefront town's first coffee house, The Beanhive.

With the excitement of the Beanhive opening and rush of business, Roxie is moving on with her life until she finds that one of her best customers was found dead after eating one of Roxie's best-selling doughnuts.

Gossip in Honey Springs is as hot at the coffee served at the Beanhive and Roxie has to uncover who is behind the murder not only to save her shop, but her life.

My opinion:
It took a moment for me to get really into the story as the beginning is a bit slow while we learn about Roxy, her coffeehouse and Lakefront town but once the mystery starts we do follow Roxy with a lot of pleasure. Her romance was a bit quick but it does feel right and it's hard to resist Pepper.

I guess i just would have wanted to see more of Pepper somehow but we will hear more of him ( and of Sassy i hope) so perhaps i will love next book even more than this one.

The plot is well done, it was fun to discover some of the people living in the town , Bunny is really helpful and a bit like a sunshine even extra early, aunt Maxi must have a lot of secret and so many more to discover.

It's a good cozy mystery and i will be happy to continue the series. A bonus is the several recipes found in the book some i can't wait to try, i think that was a genius idea and so fitting the series and Roxy's passion.

Score:  4/5
