April RAK Wrap up: a meaningful month

Hello to all,
Welcome to my  2013 April RAK wrap up post..this month has been kind of a revelation for me.
RAK is as much about giving than receiving and for that part i'm quite used to it .... however i want to make my gift special, meaningful for the receiver, it's something important for me. i'm not saying that offering a book is nothing not at all , taking the time to see which book we have in common on our list, or which one would make the other the happier is also great and i'm delighted when i receive a book, smiling all day at all.

Now it's not easy for me to buy online so i decided to share the love by creating little things to give...contrary to some beliefs it's not cheaper than ordering a book quite the opposite often but i love the personnal link it can create between teh person, how sometimes it help the other to feel better because she or he receive something special done just for her/him. Sometimes the receiver act a little like she/ghe don't care and i admit i'm sometimes hurt but we can't please everyone. However there are those special someone who shows they really appreciate the gesture, how are really enthousiastic when receiving the email and it's for that i continue. I can't thank Vonnie enough for her kindness in return , for remembering my birthday while she already gifted me something, Christine who became a real friend since our first contact like Nikki and Maija but also all the others who were grateful and happy..

This month was really a special one because months ago i contacted Katrina, i wanted to do something special for her birthday and i followed her blog  before to find what i could do. So i contacted her and she was really receptive, i couldn't use the exact color she wanted but we chatted to find what best suited her and since she is a creator too and also a perfectionist one she understood what i wanted to do and the work that was necessary....she was really happy when her gift arrived and decided she wanted to return the favor with one of her own creation. She was busy with the fashion week so it wasn't something immediat but i felt honored she thought about doing something for me....even it took time the simple fact she was ready to spend time working on something special for me was magical.
This month she had a little time to spare and she kept her promise... she made me a purse/bag...but even better she took into account my personnality and what i needed she created something unique for me and i'm enchanted with the result...when it arrived i couldn't believe my eyes even if she posted pictures of it on her blog first.. it's really the perfect oen for me and i will treasure it.

That's what RAK is for me the enthousiasm when we are contacted, the shining eyes we get when a package arrive and the hapiness to discover that someone took time to make something for us ( or look at our list top order us a book) and i wanted to Thanks all of you who make this possible

In April I received:

I  received a RAK offer from Maija from Books, DIY's and Randomness, she kindly send me inside out and outside in the insiders serie by Maria V Snyder and there are signed!! It's so great , thank you so, so much Maija!!

And like i told you i receive my very special bag done by a more than promising designer Katrina from Kindred Dreamheart
Picture by Katrina you can see more here

thank you a lot to both of you, it means more to me than i can tell you.

and in April,  i've sent :
( note: i don't take picture of the Rak i create before sending them so it's only if the receiver made one i can use that i will add it here so this post will perhaps be edited later to add some)

I wanted to make more this month but i got an injury and i couldn't move my right hand which made crafting impossible for a moment...the result i only managed to finish two gift and i sent them later that what i would have wanted. i do hope they will make their new orwner happy though and for those i didn't do in April, it will be finish in May no worries.

So i did send:

Bout of Books 6.0 read-a-thon - wrap up post

Hi!

Official Blurb
(Please make sure you’re linking back to the Bout of Books website and attributing properly.)

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 7th and runs through Sunday, January 13th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 6.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 6.0 team

This bout of books has come to an end and if there was time i really thought i wouldn't manage to do all the goals i set for myself. I didn't heal as quickly as i hoped and life kept getting in the way but i had fun and i did achieve my goals  so it will be a pleasure to participate again next time.
Now i will learn some lessons from this one like not too much pressure on myself, when i was behind my schedule i worried a lot that i wouldn't be able to accomplish everything and it's cunterproductive. So keep this light, keep in mind that life still exists and won't bend to my will and have fun!

So it's time to see what i did during this week.
My Goals were lows but still it wasn't easy to accomplish them. I wanted to read at least 2books and on that i did better since i've read 3books and one novella ( Omega, Storm, Strom of visions and the novella Elemental), i wanted to post at least one review - i did post the one on Storm- and prepare one official - did it for Omega and it will be posted at the end of the month with a giveaway.Still concerning the blog, i wanted to make the page concerning my challenge for 2013, it's done and i've added some new ones too. I also wanted to make and post my participation for the friday meme on time, also accomplished.I cleaned my side bar as well.
I hoped to find free sport romances... that i could have done better but i found 2 already

On the social part of the read-a-thon, i hoped to comment at least once each day on one participants posts, i often did better with at least 5 comments. I thought to participate in one challenge and i did a lot more too (7), i was interested in some other but i didn't have a camera and at that time i didn't know that there was other way to do it without camera ( for next time!)
I did the RAK i needed, at least part of them.

About the challenges: i did the funniest/favorite cover one, i shared my favorite vampires, i did the scientific discovery challenge, as well as the rewrite the synopsis one, the page 48 challenge , My book crack challenge and lastly the new year resolution challenge.
you can find some of my answers on the post where i put my daily update here

I'm really happy to have participated in this and i had a lot of fun, i met new bloggers as well as enjoyed teh answers of some i followed already. Final result: a success

How did you do?

Bout of Books reada thon 5.0 Wrap-up

"The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, August 13th and runs through Sunday, August 19th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 5.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. -From the Bout of Books 5.0 team "

It's time for the wrap up of the first read-a-thon i participated in. First i need to say how fun it was and it really motivated me so i will gladly participate again.

Now my goals were to read a minimum of 4books ( chick lit included), comment on others participants blog each day  at least once. Lastly i wanted to at least take note for each books if i couldn't immediately write the complete review.

Results:
  • Books: i did reach my goal of 4books but only one chick lit so that's something to improve

Books finished:Caresses de Glace ( PR), A perfect Darkness (PR),Calling Romeo (Chick lit), Obsidian (YA), Onyx (YA), Daimon (YA)
Books started: Half-Blood(Ya)
Total of pages read: 2306

  • Comments:  I commented each day and i think i did at least 5comments per day sometimes a lot more sometimes a bit less but my goals being one comment i did really well.

  • Socialize: i started to follow new blogs too

  • Reviews: I did write a draft of the review after finishing each book but it made me lost time and i can see i've really difficult to write a long review when the book didn't intesrest me

  • Challenges: I hoped to participate in 1or two challenges i wasn't sure what kind of challenge it could be so i didn't dare to set a  goal but in the end those were really fun and/or instructive so i partacipated nearly each day ( when a picture wasn't required etc). I  receive the good new that i won one ( page 99 test by Nova - thank you so much)  and that made me very happy^^

I think that for a first time i did well. Next time will perhaps be harder depending on the dates but for a first experience the dates were perfect and thus it was a great motivation. Participants were also wonderful so i wanted to thank all participants and hosts for this wonderful week.

JLA Readathon Wrap-up

Hello to all,

This weekend i was participating in two read-a-thon, one being centered on any book written by Jennifer L. Armentrout and hosted by Valerie from Stuck in Books.

Now it's time for a wrap-up post and i can say i'm really happy about what i managed to do.

My goals were to read Obsidian and Onyx, participate in the Chat with Jennifer and try to do the challenges ( at least 1).

Results:
  • Books i didn't have as much time to read as i hoped but i did read more than my goals.
Finished: Obsidian, Onyx, Daimon
Started: half-blood
Total pages: 1015
  • Chat: i did participate in the Chat, my first experience so i was a bit overwhelmed and shy but i was there
  • Challenges: now that's a bit more complicated . I'm working hard on challenge 2 and 3 but i did the all 3 in the end, the plylist challenge was hard because i wasn't sure if i had to put song with lyrics or only music so i did put lyrics ( english, french and japaneese^^;; interesting mix)Unscramble was done and the quotes too ( thanks again for the hints^^)

June RAK Wrap up

Hello to all ,

Welcome  to my Random Act of Kindness  wrap up post for June. This month has been really difficult for me due to several health problems and i was really afraid i wasn't going to be able to make any RAK. However with a lot of persistence, i've managed to do the two i wanted for this month; it took longer to make them but it was finished on time and i'm really happy for that even if i didn't receive anything this month.

Recap  In June i sent:

My first Handmade unicorn Keychain to Amber from  The Musings of Almybnenr

A Handmade rose Bookmark to Abbey from Abbey Ann's Bookland

Received: In June i received no RAK.

How was your RAK in June?

Biannual Blogathon Bash Wrap Up post

Hi!

The blogathon is finished for me after accumulating 34hours and 19min of working , crazy? oh yes and if i was better there are several things that would have taken less time but, being in the state i'm, i had to start again several times ( but i'm persistent and didn't want to give up). And i was a bit helped by the football fans that kept me from resting with all the noise they are making for nothing -_- ; ( seriously some still have  exams , some are unwell and need resting 5h-in the middle of the night- of illegal celebration that's too much>_<)
So before i go back resting like i well deserved it's time for a small wrap-up.

First of all thanks to all the host of mini challenge for the very informative posts and the help i really needed ( i must have seemed stupid and desesperate more than once^^;;).  Not everything was useful for me but i've learned a lot from you. Thank you Kathleen/Callista for this organisation and your time.

Now what were my goals: you can see them here.
What did i manage to do?
  • Write the reviews i was late ( 3 of them)- check
  • Create a Review Policy ( thank you again Stella for the help)
  • Create a better design ( mini challenge) - see the images in the sidebar have been resized to fit *_*, an About page, improvement on contact page and some other changes that you don't see yet perhaps
  • Create a google calendar- mini challenge- ( you don't see it but it will help the blog)
  • Create a blog notebook - mini challenge- i'm really a paper girls so having everything in one files instead of several pages everywhere will help me to stay organised.
  • Create a listing of the reviews done
  • I've put some order in my books stack for the challenge - could still be improved but it's better
  • Clean and complete the giveaway pages, challenges page
  • I'm on Picket fence - you can click on the button in the left side bar ( under the challenges i'm participating)
  •  how to create a photo collage- mini challenge
  • I've learned about the no-follow links and how to do them - a big thank you Leila
  • I've learned how to improve my writing and learned sme tips how to write a better book review ( 2mini challenge)
  • I've learned some Html and used it to improve the blog( mini challenge) thanks for all your Help Aeryn Lynn, i know i wasn't a easy student and you really were kind and great
  • Ok i've completed some other mini challenges like how to find help, learned what was SEO and how to apply it , etc but i'm really to tired to go on ^^;; sorry

Conclusion: It was really great but  i shouldn't do this kind of event when i'm so sick, yes there wasn't a minimum hours to attend but i don't like to give up. That's my nature and thus i'm worse than when i started. ( oki working when there was a lot of noises also helped to keep me calm but still).
There is a lot i didn't know and so much i still need to learn but i met wonderful people and that's the most important. Thank you for this wonderful experience

Good night ( for me it's 3am) and See you later !
