Heart Strike ( Project Kobra 3) by Tracy Cooper-Posey

Hello to all,

We continue with some new release but in a series i loved since the beginning only i can't recommend it enough to read Project Kobra in order as we get more info in each book and it's better not to miss anything.

Happy Reading
Publisher: Stories Rule Press
Publication: 2020
ISBN13:  9781772639896
Genre: romantic suspense, romantic Thriller
Violence: mild

Language: normal
sex: none
Public: 18+
Source: earc

Description from goodreads :

She’s American, he’s Russian. No one wants them to be together.

As a victim of the Kobra’s bomb, and with unique access to classified information, Fabian Santiago isn’t content with justice being delivered someday. When the Seven Seas unit bogs down in trivia she heads to Ukraine to find the Kobra herself.

When she falls—literally—into the arms of Mischa Sokolov, a charming Russian living in Kiev, their affair is so heated she is distracted from her very personal mission…until she leans that Mischa is not quite what he seems, and that her coming to Ukraine is shaking apart decades old conspiracies…

This romantic thriller is the third book in the Project Kobra series.

My opinion:
Once again we get a very good intrigue, i loved Mischa he is loyal but not close minded and he is very kind. When discovering a woman in need of help he does offer it without  having  hidden goals. It surprising how its past didn't make him a bitter man cautious but no bitter that show how strong willed he is. Fabian...i liked her less i admire her persistence and her courage but she is a bit too self centered and naive as well...i mean she really believe the bombing was targeting her  but at the same time she thinks that she can search for the culprit without catching the interest of the bad guys....it makes no sense to me so it took time to warm to her.

We do get more info on the Kobra with this book but we still focus on Mischa and Fabian adventure most, i loved how both intrigues were well balanced. We meet again the past characters as well and we see how good they are at their job when together so it was really great to follow them as well.

Now to really get into the story i recommend to read this series in order but when you do it's a excellent thriller full of action with a touch of romance with a lot of tension!

to recommend.

Constant Risk ( A Bree & Tanner Thriller3) by Janie Crouch

Hello to all!

Some in the world are lucky to get book earlier than others but thankfully with time we all can get our hands on good books. Today i'm sharing with you my feeling about the latest Bree and Tanner novel by Janie Cropuch while waiting for the last book in the series very soon.

Happy Reading

Publisher: Harlequin Intrigue
Publication: 2019
Genre: romantic suspense
Violence: mild
Language: normal

Public: 18+

Description from goodreads :

 The hunters
Become the hunted.

Deputy Tanner Dempsey and Bree Daniels are tasked with unraveling a deadly mystery in Dallas—one that involves transmitting live feeds of victims trapped in tanks as they fill with water. Bree’s computer genius is their only hope at solving the crime. Knowing the darkness in Bree’s past, Tanner is determined to make sure she comes out of this emotionally unscathed. Especially once they both become a killer’s next target…

My opinion:

Reading more about Bree & Tanner is always a pleasure. i love to see how both characters are evolving along the series as well as their relationship becoming deeper and deeper. At this point they do understand each other not perfectly yet but so much better than before still some misunderstanding are possible and those made me smile as it was so cute.

This investigation isn't related to their past, even if it's never too far, as they are asked to help in a series of murders and kidnapping in Dallas where Bree  genius mind is their last hope , Tanner just tag along to help her adjust to stranger and kind of act as a emotional translator . Not that it will stay that simple of course.

This is a real page turner ,  i loved the intrigue and how the author gave us more to expect before diverting us to another lead once more to keep us on our toes. There were humour with Noah and Tanner 's banters and other moment but also some sweet ones to balance with the heavy suspense part. Really a must read this could work as stand alone but i can't recommend you enough to read this whole series in order.

Security Risk ( A Bree and Tanner Thriller 2) by Janie Crouch

Hello to all,

Mid July already, time is flying ....sometimpes i wish i could stop time but on the positive side it means more new releases which is always great.
Today i'm sharing with you my opinion on the second book in the Bree and Tanner Thriller series by Janie Crouch which releases tomorrow.

Enjoy!

Publisher: Harlequin Intrigue
Publication: 2019
ISBN:  1335604537
Genre: romantic suspense, thriller
Violence: mild
Language: normal
sex:mild

Short description from goodreads :

  Risking it all—again.

Now his past is threatening both of them.

Deputy Tanner Dempsey paid a high price for an undercover op gone wrong. Nobody understands a dangerous past better than Bree Daniels. Together they have to take on those real-life demons in order to stay alive. Keeping one step ahead of ruthless killers is their only option and risk is their constant companion.

My opinion:
This second instalment in this thriller suspense is really good i loved to see how the characters grew from book one and the fact that we are learning more about Tanner past in this story was a great bonus helping us see why he understand Noah and Bree so easily with their trauma since he also had his share.
I really loved how Bree and Tanner takes their time to understand each other and build a real deep trust.

The intrigue is well written, now to be honest ....i guessed the villain and his motive right at the first time we get his point of view....(i do tend to find the culprit in book really early as general rule) so i can't say it's a 5 stars for me but it's really close because even knowing that i kept reading without interruption until the last page .Also we don't get confirmation before the end of the book so suspense is well present. There are twists, emotional moment, some funny ones and a lot of action too .

this is really a excellent suspense book to keep you entertained , could even be read as stand alone but i do recommend you to read the series in order as each book is really worth it.

The Paramedic's Choice ( Extreme Medical Services 3) by Jamie Davis

hello to all,

Summer time is here and my free time is divided between collecting berries and reading, a paradise.

Today i'm sharing with you my opinion on book 3 of the Extreme Medical Services series by Jamie Davis!

Happy Reading!
Publisher: Jamie Davis
Publication: 2016
Genre: urban fantasy, paranormal, shifters, vampire, paramedic
Violence: strong
Language: normal
sex: none
Public: 18+

Description from goodreads :

 Terrorists, Murder, Redemption

Paramedic Dean Flynn works every day to heal the creatures of myth and legend in Elk City. When a human hate group declares war on his patients, Dean, with his angel girlfriend, and the vampire lord of Elk City, must work with all the forces of good to fight the terrorists hidden in their midst.

Using magic, prophecy, and all his paramedic skills, Dean fights to save his patients, even after being framed for a murder he didn't commit. With his lifelong dreams shattered and taken away from him, can Dean find a way around the obstacles thrown in his path? Will he have the strength to make the choice when the time comes to fulfill his destiny?

Enter the world of "Extreme Medical Services" with the third book in the exciting urban paranormal fantasy series. Join up with Dean.

My opinion:
This instalment is wonderfully written full of actions with events that can't leave you indifferent We are in the middle of this first arc about the problems coming from " The Cause".  The tension is high all along and we are completely swept into the storyline following Dean a very dedicated  paramedic wanting the best for his patients.

I've read this one in one sitting as it was really keeping me on edge with moments that had me on verge of tears , other furious and at time smiling or laughing ( Ashley  sister sound quite funny)

Really, it was excellent as we do discover new paranormals, meet with some with have come to see as family and enter some of the unusual politic intricaties. I also loved to see how what they did in the past started to have an impact.  Only one thing bothered me....Dean is really close to his patient so i was disappointed to see how he didn't ask more info about little Flynn , considering the situation i would have though he would be more attentive to the "after" and be sure someone was taking care of her instead of passing her along and not checking after. I understand the situation got busy but i would have loved a line about her.

This is not the end, we still get a kind of cliffanger but  part one of the problem is somewhat solved.

To recommend ( but read in order)

Extreme Medical Services ( Extreme Medical Services book 1) by Jamie Davis

Hello to all!

It's soon the weekend but we still have to work before that short break so i decided to share with you my opinion on a book i just discovered thanks to a freebie ( you cans till get it if you hurry) and sometimes with those we find pearls.

Really it was a wonderful promising start a series i plan to continue so without more delay if you love urban fantasy and medical tv show this should be just the book for you!

Happy Reading
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services
Publication: 2015
ASIN: B014Q1EVEO
Genre: urban fantasy, paranormal, vampires, shifters,
Violence: mild

Language: normal
sex: none
Public: 18+
Source: free ebook

Short description from goodreads :

Read the book described by one reader as "Like Grimm With Paramedics." Follow the exploits of new paramedic Dean Flynn as he gets assigned to a backwater station no one has ever heard of, Station U. He soon learns that his unusual patients are far from normal. They are the creatures of myth and legend. His tough, experienced paramedic trainer Brynne is determined to teach him everything she knows. With vampires, werewolves, witches and fairies as patients, will he survive? Will they?

My opinion:
I really love the mix between urban fantasy and the medical part, it was a refreshing point of view and we are getting the opportunity to meet a lot of different paranormal creatures.  Dean is a young new paramedic who wants action but he never imagined to be assigned to a unit for unusual (aka paranormal) patients. With problem nearly normal for a paramedic: asthma attack, cardiac arrest, dishydratation etc but pertaining unusual people ( vampire, shifters etc)...it's a bit overwhelming at first but thankfully his mentor Brynne is not new to the job and it's subtleties. Dean is really good student but we glimpse deep down also a very gentle heart and good soul covered by a lot of determination ( a excellent combination fora paramedic i guess)

It's full of action and mystery with twists and intrigue behind the specific interventions scenes that are wonderfully written immersing us in the paramedic world easily and making us ( at least me) want more. I could easily imagine a tv series made from this book it could be fascinating!

My only disappointment is the cliffhanger ...we are getting deeper into what is happening and then after a big info  we are left waiting for book 2....thankfully it's already release with a few others so no need to wait before getting your hand on it help.....because this series may be very addictive if it continues with this quality.

A great surprise.

I will do my best to get back on track as soon as possible but for today let share the third book in the series Beyond Human by Nina Croft. I have read and reviewed the first two but this one is probably the most gripping one so i'm glad i could read it in one sitting.

Happy reading!!!

Description from goodreads :

Quinn Sutherland, second in command of the Tribe, a group of powerful telepaths, has always been certain of who and what he is — one of the good guys. All he wants is to keep his friends safe — no easy feat when everyone in the world is after them. While on a rescue mission, he meets a mysterious FBI agent, who appears to know a lot about them, and seems to want the same thing he does. But her assignment could literally mean the death of him…

When Melody Lyons is inducted into the Federation’s elite Time Control Unit, it’s the pinnacle of her ambitions. Only when she’s sent back to the twenty-first century to eliminate a group of rogue time travelers, she never guesses she’ll fall for a man who died two thousand years ago… Quinn awakens emotions she hadn’t known existed, and for the first time, her loyalties are tested.

My opinion:
Facinating!!! i really loved this book it follow the series completely so it's really better read in order but could catch the interest even if you are new to the series thanks to the  info given to secondary characters that creates the whole background story we need to understand the story. It was captivating!
Quinn is a character i love; he is honest and really a good soul so all the treachery really hit him hard. He is dedicated to keep his friends safe but with enemies turning allies and the opposite it's getting harder and harder.
When he meets Mel, he does think she is from the good side and while he want to trust her the fact he can't  get into her mind make him doubt he can while the attraction is more than present....

Melody is a hard working woman, she did all she could to achieve her dreams and she succeeded so following the rules are capital for her but while meeting Quinn she discovers feelings, forgotten in the future, and the rules.....to save him she is willing to go against them if necessary.

I really loved to continue the series and we go deeper in the story each time....this time we learn more about the past and about the future and if it get confusing for the characters i admit it can also be the case for the reader so many possibilities or consequences...hard to know what should be done or not but we do enjoy the ride a lot^^

The rhythm is perfect, we meet or learn about precedent characters so the links isn't broken, it's a rollercoaster of emotions and really  it was perfect only the cliffhanger at the end was a bit too hard for me^^ so i can't wait for next book that won't be released soon enough i fear^^

In the Lawman 's protection ( Omega sector: under siege 6) by Janie Crouch

Hello to all,

2018 does not seem to be my year with how life keep interfering in my plans to give me more troubles...nothing i won't survive but i admit reading about strong characters can be a good motivation for not giving up.

Today i'm sharing with you my opinion on the 6th book in the Omega sector: under siege series by Janie Crouch....i still haven't gotten book3 (i sure hope i will soon) but i have loved all the rest of the series and this finale is quite the top! i couldn't have hoped for a better story to add to this series.

But enough teasing and let see that in more details. Happy Reading!

Publisher: Harlequin Intrigue
Publication: 2018
Genre: romantic suspense
Violence: mild
Language: normal
sex: mild
Public: 18+

Description from goodreads :

An agent will do anything to take down a terrorist.

Even if that means using a woman as his weapon.

To locate a terrorist, Ren McClement must find the criminal’s “dead” wife Natalie. His plan: use the innocent beauty as bait. But when his duplicity leads them into grave danger, Ren reveals his secret to Natalie...and his passion for her. Will furious Natalie be able to forgive his lie? And will they get to the mastermind before he unleashes mass destruction?

My opinion:
Ren is a fantastic character, we learned about him a little before in the series but  he has a complex personality and his life is full of mysteries since he spent most of it undercover. I really enjoyed learning more about him and to see him act as well....he is really the perfect match for someone like Nathalie

Nathalie has fear deeply set in her bones...beside psychological  trauma, her body as well as her psyche show the traces of Damien torture.... she took the opportunity she saw to flee but she never felt free always terrified he would find her again....but no matter how much she suffered...deep inside she is still a good person, she shows compassion and when she can help other she does...it's really telling how courageous she is.

This story was all i wanted it to be...there was tension, moments where i cried, moments where i laughed all together with the Damien arc coming to an end and while i love this series it was really time for him to meet his fate and for the rest of the characters to be able to breathe a little...
It was a page turner from the beginning and if this could work as a standalone i prefer to recommend you to read it in order so you have a deeper insight of what the characters have suffered to help understand how far they are willing to go to succeed. It's said they suffered yes but it's it's too light explanation for what they really endured so this series is better read in order for sure.

It's a great romance with a excellent dose of suspense so i recommend it without any hesitation or doubt!

Dead until Dark ( Sookie Stackhouse 1) by Charlaine Harris

Hello to all,

i'm sorry to post this so late, it was ready the beginning of the week but since my weekend was spent organising a special 24h ( which lasted even longer) Chtullu roleplaying game party.. i was simply too worn out to remember that i needed to post this review.

I haven't recovered yet either as more things piled up  but  slowly i will and let's start by this long awaited review of a far from new series but on ei'm only discovering now.

Happy reading
Publisher: Ace Books
Publication: 2008
ISBN:  0441016995
Genre: urban fantasy
Violence: strong

Language: normal
sex: strong
Public: 18+
Source: won

Short description from goodreads :

Sookie Stackhouse is a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. She's quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn't get out much. Not because she's not pretty. She is. It's just that, well, Sookie has this sort of "disability." She can read minds. And that doesn't make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill. He's tall, dark, handsome - and Sookie can't 'hear' a word he's thinking. He's exactly the kind of guy she's been waiting for all her life.

But Bill has a disability of his own: He's a vampire. Worse than that, hangs with a seriously creepy crowd, with a reputation for trouble - of the murderous kind.

And when one of Sookie's colleagues is killed, she begins to fear she'll be next ..

My opinion:
It took me quite a time before starting this series, somehow i was a little afraid but after reading the novella in the Dark secrets anthology, i wanted to read more of this author and thankfully i remembered that i had this book in my pile soi could start without delay.

I do like the author ‘s writing style, it’s clear and she built an interesting universe even if i don’t have all the rules yet, for example she tells us that vampires are the last one to have revealed their existence and got special right... i would have wanted to know a little more about the others paranormals.

The characters are well buit and so far i prefer Sam... who is there and loyal but not too much on the “ ownership” side. Bill  intrigues me he does seem to care for Sookie but somehow i’m not at ease with him. As for Jason, Sookie’s brother.. so far i dislike him greatly... i hate his behaviour but even more his reaction to Sookie past... of all other he should have been the one to trust her but not only he doubted her but he even accused her.
Sookie is interesting...she had a difficult life and her gift didn’t help ut despite everything she still is kind and looks for the positive... i quite admire that.

No i do prefer when the romance is building slowly along the book when it’s a serie slike this one so having Sookie jump in bed  in teh first book bothered me a little even if i do understand the circonstances and the importance of it for the plot so it’s okay just not what i prefer.

The plot, hum it’s okay i did guess the murderer identity but  i’m more curious about the problem Eric is at this time. The rythm is just what it should be and it’s read quite easily.
I do plan to continue this series and i have the second one ready in the pile , i think so at least, so we will see if the pleasure continues

Score:  4/5

Cursed (Fallen Siren 1) by S. J. Harper

Hello to all!

But first i wanted to thanks everyone of you who helped to make my Birthday, monday, a fantastic day when i felt cared for. Be it via a small message, an email, a letter or a gift you all made me feel loved and for that i'm really grateful so thank you to each of you!

Now today i'm sharing with you my opinion on Cursed, the first book in the Fallen Siren series for which i had sharefd the prequel novella sometimes ago.

Happy reading and once again Thank you!
Publisher: Roc
Publication: 2013
ISBN:  0425263290
Genre: urban fantasy
Violence: mild

Language: normal

Public: 18+

Description from goodreads :

Meet FBI Agents Emma Monroe and Zack Armstrong.
She's cursed. He's damned. Together, they make one hell of a team.

Emma Monroe is a Siren, cursed by the gods and bound to earth to atone for an ancient failure. She’s had many names and many lives, but only one mission: redemption. Now that she works missing persons cases for the FBI, it could be just a rescue away. Unless her new partner leads her astray.

Special Agent Zack Armstrong just transferred into the San Diego Field Office. He’s a werewolf, doing his best to beat back the demons from his dark and dangerous past. As a former Black Ops sniper, he’s taken enough lives. Now he’s doing penance by saving them.

Emma and Zack’s very first case draws them deep into the realm of the paranormal, and forces them to use their own supernatural abilities. But that leaves each of them vulnerable, and there are lines partners should not cross. As secrets are revealed and more women go missing, one thing becomes clear: as they race to save the victims, Emma and Zack risk losing themselves.

My opinion:
This first instalment promises a great series if the quality stays the same. I spend a wonderful reading moment with this book and while I had read the prequel and enjoyed it this is even better that what I hoped. Reading the prequel also helped me to understand the characters a little better since it was their first encounter but for those who can’t get the prequel, don’t worry this novel is sufficient by itself to enthral you.

I really like Emma and I feel for her… having to see so many of her friends die with time but still being able to create relationship and care for other that’s require a lot of courage I think.  Demeter sound really like a vengeful b**** to me now it’s true roman and greek goddesses were often portrayed that way but still thousand years of punishment that’s enough but no and she keep coming to torture Emma  with threat and memories…
Emma really hasn’t it easy she can’t use her powers all she wants, she must stay discreet, hiding her true identity and features but she also must guard her heart if she doesn’t want to see her loved one killed.
After meeting Zack in a past affair and working with him they both succumbed to their strong attraction but with the condition not to keep contact, see each other etc after…no string attached in the stronger sense of the expression… but that doesn’t mean she can forget easily…so when he appears again in her life she is torn by curiosity and hope but also terrified of the consequences. However despite her personal problems she takes her job as FBI agent specialised in finding missing person very seriously and she is doing her best (even before her friends get concerned.) She also puts other before herself.

Zack is a werewolf, a secret one safe that Emma knew it at first glance. He is an alpha, loyal, protective but filled with guilt from his past as well. Deeply attracted to Emma, he pursues her but in a respectful way, respecting her wishes and her secrets. He doesn’t know what she is only that she is different ant that there is something between them, not what danger it means.
I really like him as well and I hope his power will reserve us some surprise ;)

The story was really interesting as well.. missing people… missing vampires, investigations that must be done under the radar and  a really well written plot all to make you so interested that you can’t stop turning the pages.
Part of me wonder what aside siren, goddess, witches, were and vampires can this world offer us next and it makes me even more impatient for book 2. Especially since one master vampire got on my bad list all my warnings bells chiming but I can’t really guess why so far.

Definitively a series to try and to follow up.

Red Zone (Daniels Brothers 2) by Sherri Hayes

Hello to all,

i won't be long because i'm really out and i'm not sure how long the connection will last.. i should be in bed the never ending winter is taking me down with his freezing weather and snow when my flowers should start to bloom.. it starting to get depressing. Fortunately they are always good books to keep you happy as long as you stay warm^^ ( i love the fireplace so much this year)

So i wanted to post this earlier but life happened so you get it today ( better late than never). As you can see i'm following my goal of discovering the subgenre of sport romance. When i've discovered this book book newly released i knew i wanted to read it so i'm really glad i could. I'm back with football for the sport but don't worry, i got some other sports in my pile so you won't get only football or motor racing^^.

So today a sport romance mixed with romantic suspense: Red Zone by Sherri Hayes, it's the second book of a series but keep in mind that if this book is a sport romance it's not the case of the series as a whole. Books can be read out of order without problem.

Happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

After a case ended badly for Rebecca Carson, she’s losing her mind sitting around her apartment waiting on her superiors to allow her to return to work. Since she was a teenager, the only thing she’d ever wanted was to join the FBI. Now that dream was in danger.

Gage Daniels has made a pretty good life for himself. A nice house. A career he loves. As a professional football player, he’s used to getting almost everything he’d ever want with just the snap of his fingers. This includes women. A well-timed smile is usually all it takes to attract the opposite sex, especially in Nashville.

When a stalker threatens Gage, the team owner calls an old friend, Rebecca’s ex-partner Travis Hansen, to help protect his star quarterback and find the person responsible. Hansen offers Rebecca the job, and she jumps at the chance. It’s work, and it will get her out of her apartment. How bad can it be?

Posing as Gage’s girlfriend, however, isn’t as easy as it seems. The man is relentless. Rebecca must work to protect Gage while staving off his advances. She’s there to do a job, nothing more. The last thing she wants is to be another notch on a hotshot athlete’s belt.

As the stalker continues to up the ante, Rebecca finds it harder and harder to keep her distance from Nashville’s star quarterback. He isn’t what she expected in one of the city’s most notorious playboys. Now all she has to do is keep him safe until they can find his stalker, and hope she doesn’t lose her heart in the process.

My opinion:
As soon as I learned about this book I wanted to read it because it has one thing I love and one I was looking for: suspense romance and sport romance…together these things made this a book to be read for me and I was delighted to win it during the blog tour.
This is the second book of the Daniel Brothers series but it can be read as a stand alone without difficulty which I really appreciated. As we learn about Gage, we also discover his family a little but nothing is amiss and I would be happy to read book 1 even if I started with the younger of the brother in book 2 first.

Now like I said I enjoyed this story even if it wasn’t my favourite either but I will come to that later. First let see what was good or wonderful.  I really loved how Gage was trying to make Rebecca crack her walls. They were really funny together. Gage is arrogant sometimes full of himself but he is also really dedicated to his team and sport. When he is practising he become a different man and show how reliable he can be. He isn’t bad but when  suddenly he find himself forced to live with Rebecca he decide to make things hard on her so it could be fun for him… not really kind but understandable in a sense and he wasn’t never cruel.

Rebecca has been really damaged by her childhood and I feel like we don’t know the entire story still. Sometimes she reacts like she has been beaten or worse, but she only speak about attending some illegal acts and a drunken mother… I feel like something is amiss..; the way she doesn’t like to be touched, like she closes herself to the world… Perhaps it will be hinted later in the series but as it is  it didn’t feel right ( not exactly wrong but unsettling at least) She is a responsible, even too much, woman. She took care of her sister since young and the result is destroying her life. She is seeing all the wrongs, seeing how her sister is repeatedly heartbroken and thus
She doesn’t even try. I understand that but it also make me think…. When Gage immobilise her to get answers…the result should have been violent in the sense she must have been freaked, panicked no matter what he was doing and trying to break free… but no she panics a little, gets distracted and worse…she obeys? That didn’t feel right to me.

The plot is well done and I enjoyed it even if I did guess who the culprit was (too used to see police’s investigation on TV^^;;) , the romance progresses nicely and I appreciated that she didn’t wield immediately and tried to stay professional. Really it was enjoyable but they are others details that bothers me at least a little…for example the ending. I appreciate the happy end really I do but I still find curious that with everything that happens they aren’t any repercussions…part of me is glad there are none but another part finds that too unrealistic at least without some explanations… now that’s me and perhaps you will read it and not see at all what made me say that ( it’s great then) but perhaps you will too^^. It doesn’t makes the story bad far from it it’s just that I think it could have been even better

I would be happy to discover the rest of this series though and if you want a sport romance with suspense this really a good book^^, I enjoyed to see a little how a football player lived, the system for the wives and also^^ how the coach reacted when they are distracted^^. I’m not someone fan of this sport or knowing a lot about it but really it was one of my favourite part^^.

Storm Force ( Omega Force 1) by Susannah Sandlin

Hello to all,

Today is little special because it's not a book review but a little promotion for an author you know i adore and the release of the spin off of “The Penton Legacy” series which  was one of my recent favourite paranormal romance.

So this is the big day for Storm Force or to be more precise for the first instalment of this book because yes it will be a serial before being released as a normal print book. It’s now that it could be interesting for you because if you order the kindle now you will only pay 1,99 dollars ( if you are in the US, from outside the US the price can vary if it's available for you) for the whole book. You will get the first part now then, each time a new instalment is released you will get it without additional charge. In the end the kindle price will be 1,99 for you but only now…once the book is finished the price will go up.

So for once, being impatient and not wanting to wait the final release in July would be an advantage. (Part of me is jealous but honestly I still prefer to have the print book and I already made some room of my shelves just for it) Believe me for such a small price you shouldn’t hesitate to buy it, Susannah’s books never disappointed me and I’m really happy she offers us a new one like that.
It’s also a first experience for her to write this serial so she would be really happy to have interaction with the readers while her work is still in progress so jump on this opportunity.

 I can’t afford you a review at the moment but if I can’t review the serial as it goes or part of it then when I get the final book I will make one, so you will get a review on what and when that’s the question^^;

Anyway I will give you the info available at the moment so it’s the first book of  a series that take place is the same universe as the Penton Legacy series yes but you won’t see our dear vampires at all. This time we concentrate on human and shifters (different kinds). As for the genre it’s a mix of paranormal romance and thriller so you can expect action, suspense, adventure and romance (if you find some excerpts you will see that you can add humour to the list).
If you follow the serial you will get 4 chapters every two weeks to keep you on edge and wanting more ^^.
The release date for the complete kindle edition, the audiobook and the print book is July 9th (so far away ç_ç)

A rapid look at the cover and the summary to give you even more reason to go immediately buy it from amazon?

Short description from goodread :

Dom Mason wants his sons to remember their mother as a hero, a loving wife and mother, a nurse and a soldier. He wants to let the past go, let the wounds heal.

For the past two years, NCIS agent Courtney Tyson blamed herself for Mary Mason's death. She's determined to bring the killer to justice. But that means telling Dom the truth about how his wife died.

Neither of them expects--nor wants--the sudden attraction that flares between them, hot and fierce. But when a killer intent on protecting his secrets comes for Courtney, they will discover that it's not the past that matters, but the future...together.

Story:
Courtney, an NCIS agent, thinks that her friend and informant Mary has been murdered and not killed in an ambush by rebels in Iraq two year ago. She has tried to prove it and build a case but her hierarchy doesn’t follow her. In a last attempt she goes to see Mary’s husband hoping she sent him something that could be useful.
There is find a man that seems to have made peace with the past and two young boys very happy to see her and to teach her the life in a ranch.
Dom is surprised when a woman come at night to speak to him about his dead wife even more when she said it was a murder. Angry at first he see that she is at least hurting as much as he was so he decided to help her without knowing that seeing a woman in his home again can wake to man behind the father.

However the danger is still there lingering because someone doesn’t want the truth to be revealed. After some mail resembling more to a threat than anything else, a shot is being heard. What is more important; the case of the family’s security. Courtney is feeling conflicted and just doesn’t want to believe someone knows where she is since she took precautions but stil…

My opinion:

As my first romantic suspense, i didn’t know what to expect at all. I’m quite happy to have tried this new sub genre in fact. The romance is light,  the psychology of the characters is very well shown. These two are hurting even without knowing and they must learn to rely on each other to learn about themselves. It’s also great to feel the researches that were done on horses it make the story so more believable.

I also learned a bit about NCIS, for me it was a civil agency for the navy (fault to the serie NCIS) so I was surprised to see one member of it to have commando lessons and such. I guess I still have to learn more.
I think it’s also great the way Rachel Lee finish the book without saying the result of the case because the reader can imagine which one he prefer. I would have been very angry if he was declared not guilty and part of me wanted to see him judged but the romance is what is more important so she did great
