Constant Risk ( A Bree & Tanner Thriller3) by Janie Crouch

Hello to all!

Some in the world are lucky to get book earlier than others but thankfully with time we all can get our hands on good books. Today i'm sharing with you my feeling about the latest Bree and Tanner novel by Janie Cropuch while waiting for the last book in the series very soon.

Happy Reading

Publisher: Harlequin Intrigue
Publication: 2019
Genre: romantic suspense
Violence: mild

Description from goodreads :

 The hunters
Become the hunted.

Deputy Tanner Dempsey and Bree Daniels are tasked with unraveling a deadly mystery in Dallas—one that involves transmitting live feeds of victims trapped in tanks as they fill with water. Bree’s computer genius is their only hope at solving the crime. Knowing the darkness in Bree’s past, Tanner is determined to make sure she comes out of this emotionally unscathed. Especially once they both become a killer’s next target…

My opinion:

Reading more about Bree & Tanner is always a pleasure. i love to see how both characters are evolving along the series as well as their relationship becoming deeper and deeper. At this point they do understand each other not perfectly yet but so much better than before still some misunderstanding are possible and those made me smile as it was so cute.

This investigation isn't related to their past, even if it's never too far, as they are asked to help in a series of murders and kidnapping in Dallas where Bree  genius mind is their last hope , Tanner just tag along to help her adjust to stranger and kind of act as a emotional translator . Not that it will stay that simple of course.

This is a real page turner ,  i loved the intrigue and how the author gave us more to expect before diverting us to another lead once more to keep us on our toes. There were humour with Noah and Tanner 's banters and other moment but also some sweet ones to balance with the heavy suspense part. Really a must read this could work as stand alone but i can't recommend you enough to read this whole series in order.

Frost Line by Linda Howard, Linda Jones

Hello to all,

Sorry to have missed last week post but Mother's day was near and since it's my first one without mine i wasn't in the mood for anything fun or even book related. I will give you two this week to make up for that but first today is a book that tempted me as soon as i saw the cover and read the blurb "Frost Line", i even got my brother to read it so i had to share it with you as well.

Happy reading!

Description from goodreads :

Lenna is Strength, a manifestation of the Tarot card, and powerful beyond reckoning. But when she’s pulled into the human realm and tasked with protecting a young boy, everything is thrown into chaos. Lenna’s not supposed to be here, interacting with mortals. She’s definitely not supposed to be drawn to the sexy mercenary sent to retrieve her by any means necessary . . .

As a Hunter for magical beings, Caine’s duty is simple: return this compelling, impossibly attractive woman and secure the long lost Tarot deck that made travel between worlds possible. Instead he’s drawn into Lenna’s dangerous rescue mission and blindsided by his growing feelings. But there is more than one enemy to contend with. And as the clock runs out, failure means not just the loss of an innocent life and the woman Caine has come to love, but the destruction of Lenna’s entire world.

My opinion:
It was a novelty for me and i wanted to start 2017 with one so it was perfect even better: i really, really liked this story. It has humour, some suspense, action  and magic all to make a great story.
it's a stand alone which makes it even better in my opinion. Lenna is a powerful being but she has a touch of innocence and is utterly loyal ( and clever) she is really a manifestation of willpower. I loved her a lot. The way she put Caine in difficulty was cute and humorous . Caine is a Hunter, a very dedicated one at that but also someone very loyal to his friends like we will discover. I loved how serious he was and at the same time of Lenna disturbed it.
I liked the interaction between  the adults with that little boy hurt but still so innocent and how they wanted to protect him.

The story is captivating, plot well build with twists to keep you very interested until the end and most villains get what they deserve^^.

In fact the only thing that disappointed me was the epilogue... in a sense i think i would have enjoyed the book more without it , which isn't usual for me. I do love discovering what happen to characters i love  but in this case... no either i would have wanted it different or not at all but in this case it saddened me so i was disappointed to see the book end like that. However i know some could be happy with  that kind of ending as well so it's really personal.

In Any case i do recommend this book if you want a paranormal romance/ paranormal romance suspense as all together it was quite enjoyable.

Score:  4/5

Short description from goodreads :

The One Man She Can't Have

Matt Dean was born to fight…and kill. A member of a secret black-ops military unit, he and his brothers were genetically engineered by the government to be the perfect soldiers with an expiration date. Now, with time running out, he's gone rogue in a relentless quest for the one person who can save them. His mission leads him to Charmed, Idaho…and to a beautiful woman with eyes like emeralds and a body made for pleasure.

The One Woman He Can't Resist

Laney Jacobs knows the mysterious, handsome stranger is trouble from the moment he walks into her bar, looking for a job. She's spent years running from her own past—the last thing she needs is a romantic entanglement. But Matt's strong arms offer her protection, and his gentle touch promises passion unlike anything she's ever known. As lethal forces surround them, revealing explosive secrets about Matt's past and putting everything—and everyone—he holds dear in danger, can he save them all before time runs out?

My opinion:
Since I loved book 1” Sin forgotten” I could not wait to continue the adventure with the Gray brother and “Sweet Revenge” did not disappoint.
Rebecca Zanetti focus the romance on the elder brother Matt , but while the romance is important and quite steamy she also does not neglect the investigation part of the story and it’s something I absolutely adore. Matt is looking for the surgeon who implanted the chips who threaten his life and his brother’s, his search leads him to Charmed, a small city, where he finds a job as bouncer in a bar where the owner, the sweet Laney, rescued him when he was hurt in the alley.
For him this job is the perfect cover but it’s not counting the deeper attraction he feels towards Laney. Burdened by the guilt of his younger brother, Jory, death , he wants to stay focused on finding the surgeon and via her perhaps the key to their survival. However, when murders start happening in the small town he gets determined to protect Laney no matter the cost before learning her true identity because in this town secrets are numerous and the investigation far from easy.

I really loved how the author managed to keep the main story arc flowing while adding the actual investigation and building it so well that the suspense stays until the end and have surprised by several twists along the way. The investigation is really center in the story while well intertwined with the romance making the book one we can’t stop reading until the last page.

The action is quick and strong. Matt is a real protector all alpha but so deeply hurt you want to comfort him and Laney is a good heroine, I did not like her as much as I loved Josie but I could get attached.

If you are looking for a romantic suspense with a light touch of paranormal this is really the perfect story to try and this book could be read as a stand alone if necessary but I do recommend you to read them in order it’s so much better…. A light cliffhanger is at the end but nothing you could not survive especially with the next book already released.

Dark Deceptions ( A-Tac1) by Dee Davis

Hello to all!

Last year, i received a surprise book via a RAK and it was for me the discovery of a new author and a new series...despite said book being the fourth in a series i read it and i found that i enjoyed it immensely and i wanted to discover more about the team....so i started my quest to fill the gaps and while i'm far from having completed the series i did receive the first book so i could start at the beginning... having read book 4 first did not affect my reading and i will jump on book 2 in a very near future.

Happy reading!

Description from goodreads :

Davis delivers the first installment in an action-packed, sensual, romantic suspense series featuring the operatives of A-Tac, an elite CIA unit masquerading as faculty at an Ivy League college.

TORN BETWEEN DUTY AND DESIRE

Covert operations expert Nash Brennon has spent the last eight years trying to forget Annie Gallagher, his former field partner and the only woman he ever loved. Annie betrayed him when he needed her most, then vanished without a trace. Now suddenly she's back in the game - this time as a suspected traitor and threat to national security.

Annie's son has been kidnapped by political terrorists. The price for his life? Assassinate a UN ambassador. When Nash and his group find her, the smoldering passion between Annie and the man she swore she'd never contact again blazes out of control. But can Nash trust her? The stakes couldn?t be higher: Their enemy's endgame is personal, and one false move could cost them their lives.

My opinion:
I loved it! Since I first read a later book it’s not my first encounter with the characters of the team but it still felt like it and I enjoyed that! I loved to see the interactions between all the team members and I do want more already
But, before I get to the next book better start with this one; here we discover Nash an ex CIA agent which is now part of an even more secret governmental organisation A-Tac…that is still linked to CIA but at the same time it’s different. A-Tac is a team with highly specialised and effective member, when they are not on the field they are teacher at a university situated above and around their operation center.

Nash was a special operative specialised in retrieval and assassination works, before joining A-Tac he was partnered with Annie. Together they were a formidable team, understanding each other without word and also being in love in love. However 8years ago a mission ended up badly with Nash deeply wounded and Annie missing. That affected him more than he accepts to admit and while happy with A-Tac he miss her.
So when the team get word of a assassination project and that the one hired for the job is Annie , Nash feel deeply betrayed again even if part of him can’t believe her guilty.
Annie had a misunderstanding with Nash  just before their last mission together and finding herself pregnant she wanted a normal life so she disappeared and did not keep contact with Nash after he refused it ( or so she believe) now her son Adam has been kidnapped and she is asked to kill someone to save his life, with no one to turn to Annie is ready to do all she can to save Adam until she is caught by Nash and discover that the situation is a lot more complex and that treachery isn’t always where we think it.

I loved the plot really I want to discover the traitor in A-tac, I guessed immediately Tom intentions and his part in the past but so caught in the action as I was I did not mind that part. I loved Nash , he is loyal, determined and a little lost, Adam is simply too adorable. I had more difficulties to connect with Annie….i understand her wanting a normal life and being hurt by some of what Nash said especially after her past ( arf I wish I could punish her father and makes his life miserable!) but  I hated how she could not decide where to stand. Once she trusts Nash, then she doesn’t then back again, she was a real yoyo and I don’t think she was helping her son by acting like that… I wanted to shake her and tell her to come true to what she wanted and happened. Yes being a spy makes you paranoids but there are limit! Avery is a really good and understanding leader, I want to learn more about him and Drake made me smile more than once.

Aside from the action and the high suspense, the steamy scenes between Annie and Nash ( and there are several)  add some spice to the story  making it quite a captivating romantic suspense. It’s a  series that I do recommend to lovers of this genre.

Hard as It Gets ( Hard Ink 1) by Laura Kaye

Hello to all,

March is here... spring not far away but still more far than near when i look  at the windows^^;;. Anyway it's time to share a review with you and i decided to select a romantic suspense to change a little from paranormal romance.... before coming back to my first love of course with perhaps a special theme for this month i still have to decide.
Today i'm sharing with you a prcedent birthday gift i received .. i loved what i had read from the author so far but i had not started this series so another fan kindly offered it to me ( thanks Melissa)... i need to follow it up know because no matter the genre Laura Kaye is really talented.

Happy Reading!

Short description from goodreads :

 Tall, dark, and lethal...

Trouble just walked into Nicholas Rixey's tattoo parlor. Becca Merritt is warm, sexy, wholesome — pure temptation to a very jaded Nick. He's left his military life behind to become co-owner of Hard Ink Tattoo, but Becca is his ex-commander's daughter. Loyalty won't let him turn her away. Lust has plenty to do with it too.

With her brother presumed kidnapped, Becca needs Nick. She just wasn't expecting to want him so much. As their investigation turns into all-out war with an organized crime ring, only Nick can protect her. And only Becca can heal the scars no one else sees.

Desire is the easy part. Love is as hard as it gets. Good thing Nick is always up for a challenge...

My opinion:
After reading this story I’m still no fan of tattoos but definitively fan of Laura Kaye writing style! “Hard as It Gets” is really an excellent romantic suspense novel with a lot of tension, steamy scene and big alpha males ready for action.

Becca is a nurse, daughter of a deceased Colonel. When  her  little brother, last living family member alive  disappears she is ready to do anything to find and help him… the police being of no help and following the last message left by her brother Charlie she gos to a Tatoo parlour to meet a named Rixey. It’s starting well when she ask the wrong brother but the one she needs to see Nick isn’t welcoming at all and make her leaves… not deterred she will try by herself and I do love her persistence. She is afraid, exhausted, literally on edge but she does not give up at all and stays as attentive to others needs as always. I loved how she reached to the puppy (what can I say I can’t resist puppy either ^^;;)

If Nick is not receptive at all at first, there is a good reason.  He is a ex military, special force who got badly huirt in an ambush that killed most of team… worse he and the other survivors were cast out of the army , held for responsible for what happened with records falsified to attest bad behaviour…and they can’t speak about it to anyone or they end up in prison. So when the daughter of the one he hold responsible for the death of his “brothers” come asking for help he is not inclined to jump into action no matter how sexy Becca is. .. Really I can understand him, he completely withdrew into himself feeling guilty for what happened and so, so angry at being cast of for wrong reason… I think I would be a lot more bitter than he is if I was in his situation. However he is a good man and his dedication to help other has not disappeared so he will get involved when discovering that she really is in danger…. And when he discover how deeply he goes… he will need to contact his team and ask for their help hoping that in the meantime it will clear their name… after one year without a word the first meeting does not go well but each of them despites the injury is a force to reckon and more importantly they are good men.

I really loved their interaction and I have a special liking to Derek the intel specialist… if only I was so good with a computer^^;; and as courageous than him… he is the one who got the worse injury ( lost a leg) but he is the one who is the least complaining… he is not giving up his life and his courage does force the admiration. I did love the puppy as well ^^;; she is protective so quickly and so, so cute^^ her name history will make you laugh when you need it to lift some tension.

Laura manages to keep the suspense until the end and even longer as not everything comes to a conclusion in this volume so it’s really a series that will need to be read in order but I do recommend it to you if you love steamy romance and suspense filled action… for me it was just a tad too steamy perhaps but since it’s well intertwined with the investigation and action part  it did not stop me to enjoy his story greatly. I will definitively trying to get my hand on the next book soon

Deep Disclosure ( A-Tac 4) by Dee Davis

Hello to all,

Taking a  much needed break from crafting my christmas gifs ( never start too early ^^) i decided to follow up with sharing the last romantic suspense i read since it was like the flavor of this summer for me.

Those who know me have discovered long ago that i'm the read in order kind, i don't like starting a series in middle safe if i'm absolutely sure the books are all kind of stand alone.. it's the reason sometimes i have to wait month or year before reading i book i want because i had to get my hands on precedent ones first.
This time it was completely different, i had signed for the RAK from R& R Novels ( THANKS!!!) which is really a surprise one you can says your 3 favourite genres but when yoiu will receive something and what it's secret until you discover the package in your mailbox.

I was so happy to receive something that day that i was jumping around then i opened it and.... a romantic suspense my last choice ( but one of my favourite remember) and an author i absolutely never heard of... the cover and the blurb were really making me interested but....after checking it's book 4 in a series.... little disappointment, book safely posed on the shelves.....but the attraction was too much to resist....

Now i'm really happy to share my opinion on Deep Disclosure  by Dee Davis!

happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

After spending years in prison under deep cover, black ops agent Tucker Flynn joins A-Tac, an elite CIA unit masquerading as faculty at an Ivy League college. Nothing can shake him-except a vulnerable young woman marked for death.

DUAL DECEPTION

When Tucker is assigned to protect-and secretly investigate-Alexis Markham, he expects a routine mission. But this mysterious beauty has a past even darker than his: her father created a horrifying new biochemical weapon-and was murdered to keep it secret.

Alexis has spent the last decade racing to stay one step ahead of the shadowy operatives who will stop at nothing to possess her father's formula. She can trust no one, not even her handsome new bodyguard. But the heat that flares between them is impossible to resist. Will giving in to passion bring her the safety she's always craved, or will her love for Tucker draw him into a killer's sights?

My opinion:
WONDERFUL! As soon as I had my hands on this book I was drawn to it  so much that it didn’t even last in the TBR pile. I had to discover this author… I can sound strange because I’m usually not listening to my instinct that much especially since this title is in fact the fourth in the series and I ‘m more the reading in order kind of reader.

Really, yes having read precedent books could have been great as this one kind of give spoilers but in no way it’s a necessity. It was my first try at this series and even at this author and I completely fell in the story without any trouble. I could understand the story perfectly and even the general background, it’s very well done

The action is immediate in the first few pages and there is not a moment when the tension drop, I couldn’t stop turning the page even if I had some strong suspicions (and I was right!!!) about the culprit. I was completely hooked and caught in the never ending action. The romance is there as well and well done, the characters are attracted to each others but take the time to build some kind of trust before acting on their feeling which make the relationship even more believable after what they both lived  in the past.

Alexis is a strong Heroine and she has difficulty to trust since she nearly had no one to rely on while living off the radar since a teenager. She is loyal and is ready to fight for what she believes; I really liked that about her. Yes I did want to shake her as well when she didn’t trust Tucker after everything but I really appreciate her.
Tucker had to stay years in a Columbian prison for nothing and no one could live that without being affected for a long time. As soon as he sees Alexis his interest is there, he doesn’t understand why or how but his instincts are telling him something which saves his life. No matter what the rumour is he can’t accept that Alexis could be a terrorist and thus protect her fiercely. He is so courageous despite years of suffering. Really I would love to see what happened exactly in Columbia, we have glimpse of it we learn the results but this book just made me want more.

The investigation is not 100% original but is written in such a way that you can’t put the book down. I liked that we had some closure even  in the background there is a bigger investigation, a red line which seems to be developed along the series. The big, really big villains are not caught yet but the team learn slowly more about them (they crossed way with them in precedents books as we are told but they are still a mystery) and it’s good.  It’s not really a cliffhanger, I’m not on edge for the next tome. However I really enjoyed the story and writing style so I can’t wait to get the precedents books to catch up on what I missed even if it’s perhaps darker than this story.

If you want a good romance suspense to enjoy this summer (but not only) this could be the book for you. You can start this one if you just want one or start from the beginning if you prefer.

Forgotten Sins (Sin Brothers 1) by Rebecca Zanetti

Hello to all,

Really i haven't see the fime flying so this post comes up later than i intented but at least it's up^^. If you know me you are aware of my love for paranormal  romance and urban fantasy that stay true but lately i've been a little more attracted to another of the genre i love  the romantic suspense.... i love the investigation, the suspense and the HEA. it's not a new taste more one that i come to enjoy regulary by episode if you see what i mean. Anyway perhaps it'qs the summer time or simply what i needed but romantic suspense titles called to me from the TBR pile and thus i gave them priority.

Today i'm starting with one that makes the transition wonderfully since it include some supernatural element in addition the well done romance suspense. Here comes my opinion on "Forgotten Sins" by Rebecca Zanetti

Short description from goodreads :

 His Secrets Can Destroy Her

From the moment Josie laid eyes on sexy, mysterious Shane Dean, she was in love. Their desire ignited a passionate affair, and within weeks, Shane had slipped a ring on her finger. It seemed her every fantasy was coming true . . . until her new husband disappeared without a trace. Now, two years and one broken heart later, Josie is shocked by the hospital calls: Shane has been found . . . at a crime scene with no memory of how he got there.

Her Love Can Save Him

Shane can't remember the blue-eyed angel at his bedside—or who he even is—but he knows something isn't right. His hearing is razor sharp, his physical strength incredible, and the urge to protect Josie overwhelming. For powerful enemies are hunting him, and Josie is the key to discovering why. As Shane struggles to unravel his past, dangerous new truths come to light. Can he protect the only woman he's ever loved? And can Josie trust a man she thought she knew—one who carries such a deadly secret?

My opinion:
The author wrote a suspense romance with supernatural elements and the final result is really captivating. Shane is mysterious, even for him since he has amnesia, but loyal and so protective… with the glimpses the author gives us of his childhood he becomes irresistible: A teddy bear heart in a deadly body.

Oh he can also be authoritative and commanding but his past explains it so we can’t stay angry with him. I must say that I was touched by his view on women…. I don’t exactly agree on it but I found it moving . how the  TV show he saw built his want and hope… the child part in the military man  made me want to hug him.

Josie is interesting too… I can’t say I related well to her at the beginning though. I did appreciated that she was loyal in her own way but the way she tried to protect herself, not trusting her instinct irritate me. Shane saves her and how she repays him? By going to Tom…. I really disliked him from the start, too insisting, the way he is always in the vicinity with a smile and condescending. I really not see how he can make her feel safe.
Her past was traumatic for sure and she survived it, like Shane in fact, she has a idea of what a family is quite idealized and she wants that. Her marriage to Shane was short , 2months, and quick since she knew him only for 3 weeks . However no matter how short it was and how little she knew him it made a huge impact on her.  Yes she wanted divorce but it was more an attempt to catch his attention that something else ( I think)
I did start to appreciate her more when she revealed more of herself and started to stand for what she believes in.

Aside the characters, the story in itself had me hooked. The investigations about who tried to kill Josie and/ or Shane as well as his research of his past with only his love and protective instinct awakened at first. The super soldiers trained from birth some with special talents was a really interesting elements that made Shane, and later his brothers, more attaching. We want to learn more and it’s hard not to hate those who made children suffer like that, ( on that side I do wonder where went the “ disappearing” children…afterall there were quite a investment). The commander and doctor Madison makes great villain we want to see punished badly ( I don’t think the Audrey case is what it looks like…; the commander is really too devious for that) The rhythm and the twists makes this book one you need to read without break because putting it down is near to impossible.

Really I want more of this series, to learn about Shane’s Brother, to see them saved and the villains punished. This book doesn’t end on a cliffhanger but it left me wanting for more;  it was a perfectly balance between suspense and romance the paranormal/ supernatural element adding  a delicious savour .

If you want a good suspense romance with special element and military to it try this one you will be more than pleased.

In Ride Trouble( Black Knights Inc. 2) by Julie Ann Walker

Hello to all,

Summer hits us ell today and for a few days it will be hot and sunny ( before storms again of course) , the sun really help to make people happy and the fact that yesterday check up for my dog was promising i'm really relieved and i can start to smile again. Oh he got a new round of medecine but next check up in his 3 months because his mouth is finally nearly healed so i have reason to be happy (' aside book^^)

Now on book side, i think i will go back to read some that tempts me greatly to get some motivation because free time is nearly non existent so reading time is few right now .  I need something, some "sure love" after the disappointment  i felt. I was really interested in the Black Knights INC series and book 1 was good not a favourite but a promising debut and i hoped the rest would improve until becoming a favourite... i got the second book syndrome.

Let see more about it! Happy reading

Short description from goodreads :

Rebel with a Cause

Becky "Rebel" Reichert never actually goes looking for trouble. It just has a tendency to find her. Like the day Frank Knight showed up at her door, wanting to use her motorcycle shop as a cover for his elite special ops team. But Becky prides herself on being able to hang with the big boys-she can weld, drive, and shoot just as well as any of them.

Man with a Mission

Munitions, missiles, and mayhem are Frank's way of life. The last thing the ex-SEAL wants is for one brash blonde to come within fifty feet of anything that goes boom. Yet it's just his rotten luck when she ends up in a hostage situation at sea. Come hell or high water, he will get her back-whether she says she needs him or not

My opinion:
A complete change…I can’t explain better this book is totally different from the first one.  I enjoyed the first story from the Black Knights Inc series and I was impatient to  follow up but my love has been greatly tampered with by this one.. It’s not that “ In Ride Trouble” is badly written not at all but I wasn’t what I’ve come to expect and I was greatly disappointed.

“Hell on Wheels”, book 1, was an excellent suspense romance. The plot was built to keep us on edge, the romance was slow and linked to the investigation. The action was intense but the humour was also present just at the right doses.  Until the last page, I was surprised and I couldn’t stop turning the pages even if I couldn’t qualified it as a favourite read.

Since it’s a series I hope for the same minus the fact it would be another member of the Black Knights team…but this one is a complete turn over. Yes Frank and Becky knows each other ( it was the same in book 1 the main character weren’t complete strangers even if they didn’t work together like these ones) but  I don’t know some chemistry was missing….their relationship was better in book 1 in my opinion. However what disappointment me even more was the lack of suspense…this time the bigger part is the romance…Yes Becky is taken as hostage but that happen right at the beginning and she is saved nearly immediately…there isn’t any investigation about the culprit or the reason no it’s more a hit and reaction story. The bad guy kidnap, the good ones save, the bad threaten, the good punish….if you see what I mean…there isn’t any real question. Oh the villain has connection and it could become important, perhaps, but in this book the importance isn’t on that at all. We also learn that another villains is against the black Knights but it’s left to ponder later….

Also we hear about Nate ( Aka Ghost) but we don’t see him, same for the rest of the team like Ozzie we hear about where he is and what he is doing but that’s all. We focus only on Frank, Bill and the new one Angel. I don’t know but that chemistry was missing  for me, after having seen more of them interacting together and all…this time it was limit.. I don’t know boring.

I’m not saying I don’t want to give the author another chance because hey, book 1 was one of my favourite, but I can’t really recommend this one…or I would tell you to read this one first  to go from the lesser to the best and read book 1 in second. Objectively, some events in book 1 have an impact in this one since it takes place 3months after so reading them in order is recommended. However the consequences here aren’t showing yet really and the author do made a recapitulation sufficient enough so you wouldn’t feel lost if you start with book 2 . So you only have to see what you are really looking for if it’s a really good romantic suspense better past this one ( or start with it) because Wheels on Heels is more what you are looking for. If you simply want a contemporary romance with some action and a touch of military then book 2 could satisfy you

Short description from goodreads :

Brady Fitzpatrick has spent a decade burying the pain of a broken heart while working for SIEGE, an information-gathering spy agency. That it kept him away from his family as well as his best friend Molly has been an unfortunate side effect. But when his brother, also an agent, is killed during a foreign op, Brady is drawn into a web of intrigue that threatens the lives of everyone he loves…

Molly Byrnes has loved Brady forever. As his best friend and a de facto member of the Fitzpatrick family, she holds them together in their crushing grief. But as a member SIEGE’s ground team, she doesn't buy the official line about Brady’s brother’s “accidental” death and launches her own investigation—only to uncover a shocking secret that she and Brady must get to the bottom of before their target finds them.

Tangled emotions land them in bed together, opening Brady’s eyes to the incredible, fearless woman who’s been there for him all his life. But after a lifetime of disappointment, how can Molly trust the possibility of a future with him…or if they can count on any future at all?

My opinion:
A pure pleasure! As you know I do love romantic suspense from time to time, it’s a genre I really appreciate but sadly they are also often too predictable for me with “Hearts under Siege” it wasn’t the case at all.

The story is captivating, Molly and Brady are characters we would love to meet and there are so many twists and turns that I was completely hooked turning pages after pages without a break because I needed to know! A pure pleasure, I’m telling you….yes I did guess some things but really I was completely immersed in the story.

Brady is a  moving character…I love how romantic he is and his vision of love, but unfortunately he is also stupid from time to time and I wanted to shake him to open his eyes to what was in front of him! However I must admit he is utterly loyal and did suffer to do the honourable thing. Molly was so reliable… all along she was by his side even when he didn’t think too and she did enter SIEGE also because he was part of it I’m sure. She is more talented that she think I loved how intelligent she was, she reacted quickly on the field and trusted her instinct…it’s an heroine without super power but that’s what makes her so believable and adorable… who wouldn’t want such a friend?!
Now about Jessica.. I did hate her from the start and it didn’t improve even at the end … I don’t trust her.

The Fitzpatrick are a funny family and I wouldn’t have minded to have them as neighbours, Molly was really lucky to have them growing up even if she certainly idolised them it’s the kind of family I want to see more of. Now ,oki  the official front of course^^, I’m not tough enough for SIEGE and I don’t think I would be able to lie to my family even for the greater good…

The intrigue was wonderfully though and built; the rhythm perfect, fast but not so much it wouldn’t seem believable. The relationship between Brady and Molly is steamy but it felt right, not rushed or too quick. I didn’t guess the villain, the secondary characters are not filling void just that but are  real part of the story.

If you are looking for an excellent romantic suspense with action, romance and lot of surprise^^ you have to try this one!

Spotlight: Lovely, Dark, and Deep by Susannah Sandlin

Hello to all!!

I was so deep in my reading that i nearly forgot to let you know about one of the book i have on my radar since i learned of its existence. As many of you probably know by now i'm  quite a fan of Suzanne Johnson who also writes under the name " Susannah Sandlin".

After writing in the urban fantasy genre ( The Sentinels of New Orleans series), the paranormal romance (The penton Legacy series) , and the thriller paranormal romance ( Storm Force), that talented author is now trying her hand in a Thriller, romantic suspense with is titled "Lovely, Dark, and Deep" which could become the first in a new series called "The Collectors" and it release tomorrow!!

Now what i am spolighting this today? For your benefit of course because by acting now you can save some money.

This novel will first be released as a serial on Kindle ( or for those who can use the free application on your computer, tablet)...each week you get one episode ( around 40pages) that will download automatically..and that for 8weeks since there will be 8episodes in total... Now here is the trick, if you pre order it now ( you have a few hours left^^ hurry pre orders help authors) or buy it early you will only pay 1,99dollars if you are in the US ( sadly serials are not available in every country or when it is not at the same price so check for this one).... yes 1,99 dollars for the whole book.... you pay once and you receive all the past ( if it's not a pre order) and future episodes when they release.

Now i know some of you are not fan of serial....i'm not in most case either but this one is really worth the wait and even if you don't want to read it before you got all the episodes if you buy it now you have it at the reduced price. That's quite a bargain.

As for the fan of print books like i'm, fear not ^^ after the last episode is released in digital we will get a print edition and the price of the digital version will go up of course. I can't wait to add this one on my shelves.

Really for having read the beginning i can tell you it promise to be excellent so if you love suspense and thriller with a touch of romance you must get this book in digital or print but you must have it.

So what are you waiting for? You can get it here and if you want more info you can check Susannah's Website  .  Remember the first episode is scheduled to be released tomorrow ( 30th)

Not convinced yet? Here comes the summary to entice you further^^

"From award-winning author Susannah Sandlin comes a heart-pounding romantic thriller that pits a quick-witted scientist and a scarred ex–combat diver against a ruthless billionaire treasure hunter with ties to the White House....

When biologist Gillian Campbell makes an offhand comment about a family curse during a TV interview, she has no idea what her words will set in motion. Within days, Gillian finds herself at the mercy of a member of the C7, a secretive international group of power brokers with a dangerous game: competing to find the world’s most elusive treasures, no matter the cost, in money or in lives. To save her family, Gillian teams up with Shane Burke, a former elite diver who’s lost his way, navigating the brutal 'death coast' of the North Atlantic to find what the collector seeks: the legendary Ruby Cross of the Knights Templar, stolen by Gillian’s ancestor and lost at sea four hundred years ago."

You don't want to miss this one, not only Susanne is a talented author is all the genres she tried but she is also a wonderful person and an author really attentive to her readers so enjoy this new release^^.

Short description from goodreads :

Former Navy SEAL, Quinn Hamilton, is a special operative for the U.S. government and has been secretly dating CIA counter-intelligence officer, Alandra Pargas, for eight months. She’s brilliant, excited by danger, and the sexiest woman he’s ever known. Together they are a force to be reckoned with - inside and outside of the bedroom. But while Alandra is on assignment in Guerrero, Mexico, she’s captured by the country’s most dangerous drug cartel, and Quinn sets out on a black op of his own to save the woman he can’t live without.

Secret Rendezvous is the short story prequel to Rendezvous with Danger

My opinion:
So good! I definitively needed something like this short novella and if all the books from the author are of this quality I can only want more.

Since it’s a short story and even more the prequel to another book I will try not to reveal too much but that will means a shorter review. To start with something essential in my opinion….yes you can start by reading this even if you haven’t read anything by the author before. From what I gathered all books works as stand alone so yes this story is linked to book 2 in the series and I guess you would be glad o have read it later but I wasn’t feeling like I was missing something, it really didn’t bothered me to jump in the middle of the series so it was perfect.

The writing style is as I love it: clear. You got action and quickly ( hey it’s a romantic suspense AND a novella so it’s normal) but it didn’t feel rushed or not enough to stop my reading….and if the action is high level with explosive and all…the romance is steamy and not a little, the balance between the two is really well done and I enjoyed this adventure no matter how short.

We discover here, two heroes: Quinn, navy seal, chief all muscles and sex appeal but really loyal, with honor (protecting innocents and all) and protective for those he loves…. but also really dangerous if you are not a friend of him. Then we have Alandra who is also a force in her own way, she is on the terrain but her job is to blend in and gather information, she can defend herself of course but she isn’t in the “assassination” part of the job. After working together for a job, the sparks ignited a passion of the long lasting kind and they have been together since then though they kept that secret. So when during her job, Alandra is captured, Quinn doesn’t follow protocol and jump to the rescue ( sexy^^).

The author linked some elements that I think are essential for book 2 (why Quinn didn’t keep the paper!!! Man you have brain too not just muscle), we also see that the cartel is larger that what counter intelligent can imagine.  I’m also really curious about who was the one that leaked info on Alexandra because that still unknown. So there is a light cliffhanger yes but since it’s a prequel I was expecting something like that and if I’m honest we do have partly some closure too, kind of temporary happy end, yes problems are building but it will be for another day.

So really I recommend you this novella if you have a few minute and want a good romantic steamy suspense romance this is an excellent one and a good way to try an author you perhaps haven’t discovered yet with of course the risk to want more …because now I’m really aching to get book 2 and more of this explosive couple!!  And it’s free so don’t hesitate and hurry  get it when you can.
