The Coward’s Way Out (Ward of the Vampire 4) by Kallysten

Hello to all!!

I hope you had a great  Halloween time  or a good reading time in general, with less than 10h of sleep on more than 48h i'm a zombie but it was for a good reason but now that i was finally reaching my bed, i discovered i had forgotten to tell you about the new release from Kallysten so i came to remedy to that.
Why couldn't that wait? Because today and until the 3rd November you can get the free part of this story for free! I had to share this news with you, good way to start the month too.

So back to track, Kallysten just released the 4th part of Ward of the Vampire and there is only one left after this one for teh story to be complete , a good thing for those who wants to wait until all is released to start reading it ^^ ( but then you can still take the free parts when you can ;) )

Happy Reading

Short description from goodreads :

When she was first trapped in the Ward mansion, an unwanted guest to millionaire and vampire Morgan Ward, Angelina could think of nothing else but how to break the compulsion that kept her prisoner. Her reluctant warden was certainly sexy and intriguing, but his standoffish behavior was outputting to say the least.

After a couple of weeks, however, after several ‘mind-trips’ into a fantasy reality in which Morgan is a perfect gentleman – and perfect lover – Angelina finds herself falling for him and struggling to understand why he tries so hard to push her away. How can a man be charming and attentive one minute… and yet deliberately infuriating the next?

A visit from Irene, this time more interested in a stroll down memory lane than in murder, starts to explain Morgan’s fears. But can Angelina break down his barriers before it’s finally time to leave, or will his past prove to be too deep of a wound to heal?

My opinion:
It’s becoming difficult to express my opinion without any spoilers since this book is released under the form of a serial, at least in first time.
I enjoyed the fact the book is progressing at a medium rhythm wit no inconsistency, I’m not sure it’s something that easy to achieve especially when you have several works under progress. The characters stay true to themselves and I was happy to read about them again.

This part is really steamy but also highly emotional since we finally learn about Melody and Morgan’s past.  It help to understand Morgan but at the same time it made me more angry with him since he kind of gave up a long time ago. Now what was the best is that for the first time Angelina takes things in her hand, she won some assurance. For a moment she is not the frail terrified captive but a woman determined to show her point and get what she wants. It’s done step by step, it’s really realistic behaviour and I could really understand how frustrated she was becoming.

Delilah and Irene are present and still the same i mean Irene can be so frightening, Delilah , perhaps she had really good intentions but it’s hard to tell.

The ending is definitively a cliffhanger unfortunately and not really an angsty one but still waiting for next part will be hard.

My Reluctant Warden ( Ward of the Vampire2) by Kallysten

Hello to all!,

If you remember in March i shared with you my opinion on the first part of a new book by Kallysten " Ward of the Vampire", it's in fact the second serial that i'm sharing with you ( after "Storm force "whose last episode is released today so tomorrow will be our last weekly discussion post).... i thought part 1 had a lot of potential, you can read my review HERE,so when the opportunity to review book 2 appeared i jumped on the occasion and i don't regret it at all!!

I can only suggest you to add it on your wishlist on amazon because Kallysten is really generous and will make this second part available for free really soon ( and the amazon wishlist will inform you as soon as its price is reduced), part one was free early this month, perhaps it's stil  the case where you live but even if it's not... don't worry it will be free again so keep you eyes open. Or if you can't wait, today is the release date so you can bought it here

Happy Reading!

Short description from goodreads :

When her boss brought her to the party of the season, Mr. Ward’s birthday bash, Angelina thought she had slipped on Cinderella’s shoes.

Now that she is compelled to remain in the mansion, trapped with a host who was only pleasant to her in a shared fantasy, the dream abruptly turns sour.

Under other circumstances, she might enjoy staying in an opulent guest suite, with a butler waiting on her every desire. But her cage, as gilded as it may be, remains a prison, and her host, even if he wishes she were gone, is still her warden.

As she struggles to get used to the situation, she can’t figure out what to think of Morgan Ward, a man who claims to be a vampire, who at times ignores her and at times shows himself unexpectedly thoughtful. A man she’s attracted to despite her better judgment.

However, an unexpected conversation with her boss may give her no choice but to get much closer to Morgan than she’s ready for…

My opinion:
I appreciate the fact that the author took what the readers said into account. If you remember my review of the first part “ Ward of the Vampire”, I liked the story but I regretted it was so short and  ended with a cliffhanger since I really don’t like them.

My reluctant Warden is different, the story is still well written and the plot interesting but this time the difference between fantasy part, when Angelina is dreaming, and the event when she is awake are really well differentiated. You can’t confuse them anymore and I think that at this time of the story it’s a good thing. As Angelina learn more about the vampires and their specificities so do the reader .I enjoyed this way to discover more about Morgan. In this story we can see how thoughtful he can be, so kind and it the same time he can be so distant… I get the feeling he is afraid of something.

Angelina is trying to find how to act with Morgan because she is starting to understand that she isn’t the only one suffering so her anger against her Warden is abating.  I enjoy the character of Stephen and I hope we will learn more about him, how he came to work for Morgan and discovered he was a vampire etc.

Now the good news ^^ proof that good authors are attentive to their readers… this books is longer, nearly the double of part 1, and there isn’t a cliffhanger!! It’s not the end of the book so it’s still an open ending in a way but no need to get anxious or stress  it’s a good place to make a break until the next part is released. Also there was more humour in this second part and i often had a little smile while turning the pages.

You want a paranormal romance with steamy scene but slowly building relationship? This is a excellent book for you then.

Ward of the Vampire by Kallysten

Hello to all!

The weather is really strange... a few days ago it was 17°C...sunny a perfect day ( though too warm for the season that's true) today only 6/8 grey and rainy  if it stayed like that i wouldn't mind too much that's more normal but tradition oblige... our "carnaval" always has bad weather, always so it starts tomorrow ( long  days and nights without being able to sleep well in persperpective... perhaps more time to read at least at the beginning) .. and guess what..; yes the weather will be colder with perhaps even snow ( they forecast freezing up to minus 4)^^ strange tradition but at least we are not surprised.
Now that being said i'm still in my happy mood , staying positive only one week left before my birthday ( it has been long since i have been waiting impatiently for that day^^ not sure what i expect but we will see).

Today i will give you my opinion on a novella, first on a new series, called " Ward of the Vampire" by Kallisten. I discovered this author during a blog hop and she was really kind and open, she is also doing a lot for the prevention of Breast cancer so when she asked for some bloggers to review her new title i jumped on the occasion and i don't regret it.

If you want to discover this author, she has a lot of titles on smashwords and several free so you can try her and if you are tempted by this new novella it's a mini price ( but if you can't afford it it will be free on kindle (i think) for a day only...1st April. No joke but a gift^^;;; to make you more impatient for vol2 that will be released soon.

Happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

It’s THE party of the season. Socialites, artists and A-list stars have been invited to Morgan Ward’s birthday bash, including Angelina’s boss, Delilah.

For months, Angelina has been looking at the preparations from afar, but never did she imagine that, come the day, Miss Delilah would put her in a gorgeous gown and bring her along as her ‘plus one.’

Wandering from crowded room to crowded room in the sumptuous mansion, Angelina grows overwhelmed and escapes onto a balcony, only to find it occupied by her host. That first meeting leaves her struggling for her very life, but she soon gets an unexpected do-over.

Meeting Morgan Ward for the first time all over again, Angelina finds herself falling into his arms… But is it all only a fantasy?

My opinion:
It takes a little time to get into the story since we see it from Angelina and she is confused about what happened. However the writing style is excellent and I loved it; I mean we really get to understand Angelina’s feeling.   I loved to see the 2 versions of what could have happened and I wonder if it was really only her fantasy. Once we are in the story, then we just want more and we are really interested is what happen with enough mystery we have to guess what is real, what is compulsion etc to keep us on our toes.
Now I must admit it was really too short to my taste, I’ve got so many questions like Ward speak about a replacement but for whom? How Ward could change the compulsion and does it want to change it?

Morgan Ward intrigues me, he can be rude and arrogant but still he saved Angelina’s life without any hesitation. He seems irritated to have her but he is honest enough to try to explain what is happening. As for Angelina, part of me is glad it was fantasy because it seemed too rushed for me especially after the first meeting but she is trying to understand and doesn’t give up and I like that.
Delilah…. Arg I want to strangle her, I can’t understand why Angelina want to stay loyal to her….or even think about it. I hope Morgan Ward will teach her a lesson.

It’s a promising novella but I’m really glad we will get a following story and soon because I don’t like cliffhanger and even better: I want more of it!

Want a short novella with romance, mystery and having to wait for more ^^ then I recommend this^^. It’s also a little funny and you shouldn’t be disappointed ( no, just impatient^^;; for the next instalment)
