Demon Spiral ( Dr Wolf; the Fae Rift book 2) by Cheree Alsop

Hello to all!!!

Since i have a bit of time before people comes to change water pipes ( why i still don't know) i decided to share another review with you from not a new release but a series i take great pleasure reading: The Fae Rift series by Cheree Alsop. Actually 4 books are released so far so  you will probably not have to wait too long to have my opinion on those as it's quite addictive.
Let's start with book 2 though.

Happy reading!

Description from goodreads :

When the head doctor’s daughter is bitten by a goblin, Dr. Wolf is forced to the edge of his limits to save her life. Other victims show up, turning the chance attack into one calculated to send a message. With the safety of the human race hanging in the balance, Dr. Wolf has to find out how an Archdemon made it to Edge City. The answer could mean life or death for the young woman whose blue eyes and warm smile have stolen his heart.

My opinion:
After loving the first book a lot i was determined to continue this series, it took me a moment but i don't regret it. However, there is one element that bothered me a little...this can't be read as standalone, really can't. Now, i do love to read series in order and i do recommend it but what i mean is that if you start with this one you could feel lost and perhaps even give up which would be very sad so to start well start with book1: Shockwave!

Since we started with the most negative point let see why i do love this book and series. As soon as i remembered a little how the first instalment finished i was immediately immersed into this story because it literally take off where the last one ended. We are immersed into the action which makes us understand even more the characters since most of them like us were thrown into the mess without notice.

I loved to see how the relation between different characters, for example in this one we see police officer we met in book 1 and their attitude is changed. Dartan opens more and we discover what he sacrificed to save our world, Aleric we learn about him as well but he is also learning about himself and it was funny to see a human telling him what he was unconsciously doing . He is terribly loyal no matter how much he suffered but he still thinks he must redeem himself .

I also loved to discover more fae like the kind troll, the grims children and gargoyle as pet ^^.Really it's a great adventure easily read in one sitting...this one has a lot of action so really a page turner and i can't wait to start on the next book ( book 3 &4 are already available so don't wait and start the series if you haven't already done so)

Score:  4/5

Dr. Wolf Shockwave ( The Fae Rift series 1) by Cheree Alsop

Hello to all!!

After a wonderful and sunny sunday we are back in grey and humid days like summer has difficulty to settle down this year. Anyway today i'm sharing a book that i fully enjoyed and that i wanted to share with you as soon as possible....."Dr Wolf: Shockwave".
Book 2 was just release so i hope i will get to read it soon as well.

I won't delay any longer so...ENJOY!

Short description from goodreads :

When the divide between the fae world and the human world is torn apart, Aleric Bayne is thrown into the ensuing chaos. Hurt and disoriented, the werewolf finds himself in a hospital emergency room. When other fae creatures begin to show up, Aleric sneaks them into the D wing of the hospital. With no one else able to treat their unusual conditions, Aleric steps into the role of Dr. Wolf. He has one goal in mind, to help the fae and close the Rift. But Dr. Wolf has walls around the memories of his own broken past that threaten to unravel the world he is holding together by a thread.

My opinion:
Love it!!! really it was fabulous, i was interested after checking the blurb but this story has surpassed all my expectations ( even if they were high) .

Suddenly, Fae are appearing in our world but for most of them it's not by their own volition so they are here lost and afraid and sometimes hurt...that's what happened to Aleric a werewolf who wake up in a hospital confused about how he got there and where it is exactly....however as soon as he heard the cries of another fae he jumps into action mode and do his best to help her...finding himself acting as a doctor even if he has a lot to learn himself he is moved by the need of his fellows companions and becomes their protector.
he is hurt and as confused as they can be but he acts and i really loved that about him how he could be so honest and caring.

Fae politics are put aside for a moment in this strange world for them so werewolf, fairy and vampire band together to transform the wing of the hospital so that they can become theirs with the help of the few humans knowing the truth... Dr Worthen and Lauren, the nurse, ( and gregory) are confronted to strange patients and suddenly they understand that they can hurt them even more by trying to help so when a patient suddenly act like a doctor and seems to know what is happening they decide to entrust him with the new discovered fae even if they are sometimes dubious and sometimes afraid they want most of all heal all their patient..
I loved to see them  true to their vow and how resourceful they could be because of course not every human is friendly .

There is a lot of action and some suspense but i loved to learn more about Blays universe and to see Aleric discovering bits of info about how to treat fae from other ones...each individual is helping in a way sharing his knowledge when they would probably have ignored each other while in their world. i loved to see the diversity. Dartan is really interesting as well.

there is a a small cliffhanger for sure but to be honest i loved this one so much that i really want to read the next ,cliffhanger or not, i want to see why the rift exactly, the past of Aleric and how he will adjust. A story to discover  for all urban fantasy lovers.

Score:  5/5

The Million Dollar Gift by Cheree Alsop

Hello to all,

I hope you had a great Christmas or whatever you celebrate. I enjoyed a quiet meal with my family and i can tell you that i'm really grateful for it.

There are only a few days left before New Year and i will try to take a little time for myself but not before completing my 2012 goals so i continue my discovery of the holiday romance subgenre but today i will change a bit and speak about a contemporary one instead of a paranormal one^^ no worries  the rest of the year will be back to holiday paranormal romance ( mixing several favorite things is so good^^).

Thanks to Ali Cross i won this book to help my discovery of this subgenre and i really loved it so here is my opinion on " The Million Dollar Gift" by Cheree Alsop

Happy reading and happy holidays!

Short description from goodreads :

When Chase risks his life to save a brother and sister just before Christmas, his life becomes entwined with theirs more intricately than he could have imagined. Emotional and moving, this is a story of a young man whose troubled heart is tested by the one thing he is unprepared to face, love.

My opinion:
When I won this book, I hadn’t started my discovery of this genre yet or I only read one book  so I loved the excerpt I saw and the description but I didn’t know what to expect.  Let’s say that the description doesn’t do justice to this excellent story… it’s really emotional and more than moving. You will need tissues at several moment but Cheree managed to write a wonderful story that can’t let you unfeeling, unmoved.

Chase had a sad life and ended being on the street  when he isn’t thirty, he also has some troubles with gangsters but when he heard Clara’s cries for help the hesitation was short before he went to help even if he just been severely beaten minutes before.

Clara didn’t expect to be aggressed when she went out with her little brother; she even less expected to be saved by a stranger covered in grim and blood. However, she can’t let that young man alone on the street, in the cold after what he has done and seriously injured as he is so she invited him to her family’s home even if she know nothing of him except that his name is Chase.

Chase didn’t act to be awarded anything, he just did what his heart told me, so he is a bit surprised by the way he is invited and welcomed in Clara’s family without questions or doubts despite his appearance.  He doesn’t feel at his place, still hurt he thinks isn’t worth their kindness but the family keeps being kind to him and attentive and soon he can’t leave them especially Clara. He didn’t believe in Christmas since a long time but their joy and generosity overwhelm him and he is starting slowly to heal body and heart by living with them. Slowly he also opens himself and we discover the reason for all his suffering and I cried for this little boy so alone and hurt. We really can understand him thanks to that. The relationship he gets with Daniels, one of the boys of the Clark’s family who has withdrew in himself since the death of his best friend is lovely described and the words sound rights. They learn from each other, each one being in a way the answer the other was waiting for…; a wonderful message of forgiveness and faith.

The romance is there slow and true, growing as Clara and Chase learn about each other and spend time together. They are obstacles, tragedy and sometimes I got the impressions that fates were really against Chase, since it seemed so cruel but everything fit, has their reason to arrive so even if they are sad parts I really enjoyed this story and I’m glad to have had the opportunity to discover it.

To recommend but if you are really emotional like me, don’t forget  to keep your tissues at hand
