August 2013, monthly wrap up post

Hi!

Now August is finished and the summer has only 3more weeks to grant us some sun and warmth...(not the case today here but hope is still there^^), while september is quite catching my interest with the topic for the paranormal challenge ( September is dragons!!) before i start on those i need to make a little wrap up for August.

So let starts!

Event:
August saw the 8th edition of the Bout of books read a thon and i'm glad i participated because it did boost my motivation. So i got some reading done, some drafts for review, some reviews posted ^^ . At the end i was a bit bothered by an infection to eye that made difficult reading or looking at a screen but i had done enough as not to worry.

Books received:

    For review:
ecopy of A Kiss of Blood by Kallysten you can see my review Here
ecopy of Finding my Faith ( book 2 of the six saviors series) by Carly Fall
ecopy of Midnight Conquest by Arial Burnz which was reviewed here
ecopy of Midnight Captive ( book2) by Arial Burnz ( book 3 was free )
ecopy of  Whitelighter, Encounter at Shalana, The Beast's Redemption, Horse Charmer and of the Unicorn Keep by angie Derek/Angelia Almos

    Won:

*Storm Warrior by Dani Harper:  audiobook on Under the Cover book blog ( my first audiobook!! i'm so stressed to see if i will manage to understand^^)

* an amazon gift card at Smutketter for the Burn with me release tour. Thanks RG!!

    Bought:
None. ( guess i'm making an unvoluntary book ban^^)

   Gifted:

Secret RendezVous, ebook by Sharon C . Cooper you can see my review here  It was a free book though but since i had some trouble to get it the author sent me a copy directly

Rachel did offer me something too but it's not arrived yet so it will be for a later wrap up but i still wanted to say THANK YOU!!

I forgot something or someone , sorry!

Reviews done and posted on the blog

In English:
A good month, i've managed to do what i hoped without forgetting the challenges i've entered but could have been better because i forgot to post some review that were ready^^;;

En français:

Parce que je ne peux et ne veux pas oublier mes lecteurs francophones

Challenges:
Only four months left so where i'm in my goals for the divers challenge i've entered so far:

For the sport Romance challenge i've entered 9/12 books so since i got several other books that qualify for this one i've moved to level 2

For the TBR reading Pile 2013 challenge i've entered 40 books already so  level 4: 40books, i'm thinking about moving up to the next level but i hesitate

I've read 7/10books so i will try to finish this one even if it had been suspended ( perhaps cancelled)

i aimed for 3 books and entered 5 so success

In this challenge we must read a book with a specific kind of creatures which change each month and until now it's a success, topic for tjhis month was siren/selkie/mermen, interesting topic but i wasn't that inpired either ( perhaps because i counted on a book that never showed up) i osted 5 wityh only two with the right cretaure ... i feel stupid because i had one more but it slipped my mind

RAK:
Now, officially the event didn't took place, either Booksoulmates were on holiday or prefered to suspend it while waiting for the new version to come to light, anyway i didn't want to stop so i did a little
None received
Send: one to Amber ( one made beforehand yes but so perfect for her^^) and i have one in preparation ( i'm not forgetting you Ruth i just had to take a break for my eyes but i will finish it^^)

Did you have a good August month? Were you a little lazy too? Full of books?

August RAK Wrap-up

Hello to all,

Last day of summer, sad but true, however since it's the last day of the month it's also the day for my Random Act of Kindness wrap up post. This month was quite calm for me, i only received one book( thank you Christine) but even being ill quite too long for my taste i managed to do several RAK like i intended and i don't regret spending my time on these, even it means i wasn't on holiday, because sharing the love, spreading the smiles is really worth it.

In August I received:
From Christine ( thank you so so much), i was waiting to discover Rachel Vincent's books so now it will be possible. Thank you

Also even if it's not in the RAK system, but in its spirit, i wanted to thanks Nat from reading Romances, i really wanted a book ( only available in pdf and in promotion for 3days only)and she accepted to help me when i asked, Thank you so so much!

and i've sent in august:
( note: i don't take picture of the Rak i create before sending them so it's only if the receiver made one i can use that i will add it here so this post will perhaps be edited later to add some)

A handmade bird keychain to Mariska from Me and my Books

A handmade unicorn Keychain to Trayana from I'm a lioness
A handmade unicorn keychain to Becky from Becky's Barmy Book Blog  (again happy birthday, she showed it in her vlog post Stacking the Shelves if you want to see it.)

A handmade rose keychain to Kerry-Ann from Reading A little bit from Everything  ( get better soon dear)
A handmade rose bookmark to Annabelle from Sparkles and lightning
A  handmade White tiger bookmark to Darlène from Darlene's Book Nook   ( it was a pleasure to make this one, take care and don't give up)

and lastly (but i could perhaps count it in September  when she receive it -so you will see it again-) i sent some handmade bird earrings to Camila from Books Down My Pillow

I'm really happy about this month , now that the school is starting again i won't be able to make that many and i will return to a normal rythm but i wanted to do what i could.
The only thing i regret is that some person didn't have take the time to answer my mail so please if you aren't interested when i offer you a handmade RAK please just tell me so that  i can spend the time on another one and not wait in vain

I will glady continue this experience so see you next time

So How is your RAK?

RAK August Sign Up

Hello everyone,

Welcome to a new month of Random Act of Kindness created he girls from Booksoulmates to share the love of books in the bloggers' comunity. This summer makes this experience even better, as i don't go on holidays, i have more time to create more RAK and share passion and happiness. Will August be a better month than July we will see but first a bit recapitulation of the rules for the newcomers with all the informations needed so they could join the fun.

COMPLETE RULES RE-CAP:
Please read carefully & follow all rules! Thank you!

  • Please sign-up each month that you can participate (and by participate, we mean give as well as receive).
  • Show off your participation by grabbing our RAK button (code is in the right sidebar).
  • Create a wish list (on Amazon, Goodreads, or your blog, etc) and post it in the Google Doc located in each R.A.K post for the month.
  • If you choose to do a R.A.K for someone, check out their wish list and contact that blogger directly for their information.
  • Once you receive a RAK, send us an our new email to [rakbybooksoulmates @ gmail . com] so that we can update the Google Doc. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU SEND EMAILS TO THIS ADDRESS!
  • E-book participation is limited to files being gifted directly to a person from the e-book store. Amazon's Kindle Store is set up to allow this, as well as the Kobo store and we believe Barnes & Noble with Nook as well.
  • At the end of the month, SHOW US YOUR R.A.K by making a "RAK Wrap-Up" post. This post should include who you SENT gifts to as well who you RECEIVED gifts from :)
OPEN TO EVERYONE including all our International brethren!

Remember, there's always the Book Depository and they offer FREE shipping!
Easy peezy!!

If you have any questions regarding RAK, please contact us via the following:
rakbybooksoulmates @ gmail . com

This month, i'm number 17 on the list. If you want to grant me a RAK, please send me an email at isabelle(dot)frisch(at)gmail(dot)com and i will give you my information.

I have a long wishlist but that way everyone can find something they like and in their budget. I also accept gently used books from no smoking house ( allergic), but i'm international so the shipping without bookdepository can be expensive.

You can find my complete wishlist here and if i have to choose some favorite ( always difficult) in no particular order ( but really any book from my wishlist is fine):

-Alexander Outland by GJ Koch
-Storm by Brigid Kemmerer
-Angelfire ( hardback) by Courtney Allison Moulton
-Tin Swift ( Age of Steam2) by Devon Monk
-A witch in Winter by Ruth Warburton
-Grave Mercy by Robin Lafevers

Thanks you a lot to Booksoulmates for hosting and thank you to all participants, you really are great. Happy RAK
