Now i won't stop the blog during this time either but i'm glad to had an review i had written and forgotten  a little. If you follow me you remember that earlier this year i was in an " alien" phase i was really happy with some of my discoveries but a little disappointed with others...  Today i'm sharing with you the book i enjoyed the less and thus  the review i put aside for a time as well.

Short description from goodreads :

 An alien soldier without emotions.
Finn is three quarters Asazi and one quarter human. He's a lieutenant in the Asazi army and his desire is to be the best soldier he can. He's spent a lifetime denying his human side, only to find out that now it makes him key to a mission on Earth. A mission that includes Marissa Sanchez, Target 41, a determined, smart-mouthed spitfire that brings out emotions his Asazi nature rejects.
A human woman with a target on her.

Marissa's dream is to keep her restaurant from being seized by ruthless developers. She's broke, out of options, has a deadline, and a cheating ex who offers to marry her and solve her financial problems. Everything changes when a guy named Finn saves her life and provides a completely different kind of option

My opinion:
As you can see August saw me read a lot of aliens romances from all kind and this one is the one i liked less.... it’s not bad written and the plot  isn’t bad even if it(s partly quite predictable.... no but i had some trouble getting into the universe.
For me it seemed really strange that no one was intrigued about what was happening to the women, that no one would fight against such actions.... i guess that i despite the Asazi. Finn is only part human and he fought that part because he wasn’t able to fit easily in the Asazi world.... i found it sad. But i liked him i mean he does ask question, he does think by himself and it’s courageous.....the way is attempted to make coffee was really funny and he could be utterly  protective and tender when caring for Marissa. I liked Kal as well he does care for Finn and tried to help him.
Marissa is a dedicated daughter... she does her best to keep her father’s dream alive when she isn’t aware of what she really wants. What i liked teh most about her was how she didn’t fall for her ex manoeuvre  i mean i could even suspect he was being her troubles from the start.

Now what i didn’t like  was the lack of asazi’s implication like i explained before and  the fact that we don’t get answers either. Finn wonders about what is happening to the women... to n°42 for example since she is reported missing. Kal tell him that she was send back home and he just accept that... yes he tries to check later but on another woman so even if Kal was sincere perhaps he was not aware of something bad because hey she is still missing, nobody is worried about this detail? Also, Finn isn’t telling anyone about his wings?! Not even his cousin after everything? Especially considering that he want to see him again... too strange

I hate being left with questions like that so  i couldn’t enjoy this story properly and while i really would love to know what happened to Kal  it’s not a series i think i will continue.. perhaps if book 2 get free i will give it a try but other way i think i will focus on others series for the time being.

Poltergeist ( Greywalker 2) by Kat Richardson

Hello to all,

Last week passed in a blur and not  in a good way. The events of Paris are having their effects here as well and slowly we try to let life triumph over the terror but we do have a thought for all the victims.

Today , i'm sharing with you my thought of the second book in a series i've started this year and that i liked enough to follow up ( and still plan to) so here is my opinion on Poltergeist second book in the Greywalker series by Kat Richardson

Happy reading

Short description from goodreads :

Harper Blaine was your average small-time PI until she died - for two minutes. Now she's a Greywalker - walking the thin line between the living world and the paranormal realm. And she's discovering that her new abilities are landing her all sorts of "strange" cases.

In the days leading up to Halloween, Harper's been hired by a university research group that is attempting to create an artificial poltergeist. The head researcher suspects someone is faking the phenomena, but Harper's investigation reveals something else entirely - they've succeeded. And when one of the group's members is killed in a brutal and inexplicable fashion, Harper must determine whether the killer is the ghost itself, or someone all too human.

My opinion:
Good but confusing that’s how i would resume this book... after reading book 1 i was happy to own the next book to read when i wanted and i don’t regret it but the change with book 1 is a little abrupt. In Greywalker, the character discovers her powers and we do it at the same rythm, now that she knows what she is capable off  Harper is still adjusting and learning but more confident, i liked that.

This time she is investigating a sort of Poltergeist creation group. An university is founding a research on that topic and the professor in charge isn’t happy with the results thinking about sabotage.... it doesn’t start well when Harper dislikes the man but it gets worse when a murder is added... it’s where it gets confusing. The purpose of the research, the explanation and the real objective of the Professor all of that is really hard to understand, perhaps because i’ve been interrupted yes but in any case i didn’t like that feeling. I even had difficulty to replace some of the secondary characters from book 1.
Now i can’t say that the confusion is due to the lack of author’s research far from it but  you really ned to stay focused on the book and nothing else to grab any detail that will be handy later , it’s not a book that you can start, put aside for later then come back to it  the plot is too deep and detailled for that.

So, i did enjoy it but not as much as the first instalment and definitively not a read a would recommend when you want a light story without deepth. I do plan to continue the series though but i hope next one will be a little less confusing but still captivating.

Dead until Dark ( Sookie Stackhouse 1) by Charlaine Harris

Hello to all,

i'm sorry to post this so late, it was ready the beginning of the week but since my weekend was spent organising a special 24h ( which lasted even longer) Chtullu roleplaying game party.. i was simply too worn out to remember that i needed to post this review.

I haven't recovered yet either as more things piled up  but  slowly i will and let's start by this long awaited review of a far from new series but on ei'm only discovering now.

Happy reading

Short description from goodreads :

Sookie Stackhouse is a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. She's quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn't get out much. Not because she's not pretty. She is. It's just that, well, Sookie has this sort of "disability." She can read minds. And that doesn't make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill. He's tall, dark, handsome - and Sookie can't 'hear' a word he's thinking. He's exactly the kind of guy she's been waiting for all her life.

But Bill has a disability of his own: He's a vampire. Worse than that, hangs with a seriously creepy crowd, with a reputation for trouble - of the murderous kind.

And when one of Sookie's colleagues is killed, she begins to fear she'll be next ..

My opinion:
It took me quite a time before starting this series, somehow i was a little afraid but after reading the novella in the Dark secrets anthology, i wanted to read more of this author and thankfully i remembered that i had this book in my pile soi could start without delay.

I do like the author ‘s writing style, it’s clear and she built an interesting universe even if i don’t have all the rules yet, for example she tells us that vampires are the last one to have revealed their existence and got special right... i would have wanted to know a little more about the others paranormals.

The characters are well buit and so far i prefer Sam... who is there and loyal but not too much on the “ ownership” side. Bill  intrigues me he does seem to care for Sookie but somehow i’m not at ease with him. As for Jason, Sookie’s brother.. so far i dislike him greatly... i hate his behaviour but even more his reaction to Sookie past... of all other he should have been the one to trust her but not only he doubted her but he even accused her.
Sookie is interesting...she had a difficult life and her gift didn’t help ut despite everything she still is kind and looks for the positive... i quite admire that.

No i do prefer when the romance is building slowly along the book when it’s a serie slike this one so having Sookie jump in bed  in teh first book bothered me a little even if i do understand the circonstances and the importance of it for the plot so it’s okay just not what i prefer.

The plot, hum it’s okay i did guess the murderer identity but  i’m more curious about the problem Eric is at this time. The rythm is just what it should be and it’s read quite easily.
I do plan to continue this series and i have the second one ready in the pile , i think so at least, so we will see if the pleasure continues
