Short description from goodreads :

A vampire prince on a four hundred year old mission to avenge his murdered sister...

Aleksandr Nemov won't stop until the last of the vampire hunter’s progeny is wiped from the Earth. Each kill has stolen a piece of his humanity, pushing him towards the black abyss all vampires hold within their hearts. Now he is teetering on the edge, close to devolving into a beast, and time is running out as he tracks the last hunter to Prague. There he finds a beautiful woman who could be his one chance for salvation, but is it already too late for him?

A vampire guard who will do whatever it takes to protect those she loves...

Elise is dedicated to her duty. It's the only thing she has left. All that changes when she meets Aleksandr in Prague and her master grants him permission to stay at her bloodline's mansion. She knows all about Aleksandr but none of it prepares her for how she feels when the legendary prince's hunt becomes one for her heart. Elise battles him with all of her strength but can she stop herself from falling for the handsome hunter? When he reveals the depth of the corruption in his soul, will she have the strength to face the pain in her past and do whatever it takes to save him?

My opinion:
A romance so well written, in perfect concordance with the story. I loved it. Felicity Heaton created an interesting world and I was easily swept by it, we get soon a background of the vampire society even if the author focuses on the romance. The balance is just as it should be, we have enough to understand the situation, the characters’ reactions and such but not too much s to concentrate on it. We delve more on the political ties and Aleksandr’s past later in book when we get his side of the story and the insight of Elise on the hierarchy and such.

I loved to see how Aleksandr starts to understand Elise and is unsure how modern women like to be treated. He thinks of his past and start doubting or to be more exact he becomes conscious that he had doubts about his chosen path for some time now. His sanity is compromised and he didn’t see he needed someone to believe in him, to accept what he is doing. Alone for so long with his desire for vengeance, he forgot to live. Felicity Heaton really described well his psyche so we can understand him and take a liking to him no matter how bloodied he can be.  Elise is different, she is not trying to catch his interest, doesn’t flatter him, she even tries to elude him however she sees him for what he is, a noble man, honourable who takes high risks to protect his own. As a female guard, she always put her duty before everything else, trying to be perfect but she was unprepared to be seen as a woman and a beautiful one. Strong and fragile at the same time, she can’t believe he could have real feelings for her and since she refuses to be a plaything she tries to avoid him and his flirtations even if she is far from unresponsive to his charm.
They are playing a bit the cat and mouse and the roles are inversed more than once but it’s wonderfully described and I was completely in it.

There are some steamy scenes…gradually steamier even but it fits the story, the terms are well chosen, not vulgar at all and I liked those, not necessarily my favourite parts of the story but they didn’t  bother me at all coming when it was needed for the main plot and not just for fun of it ( in a way).

Really a good book to recommend to lovers of erotic paranormal romance above 18.

A Mermaid’s Kiss (Daughters of Arianne 1) by Joey W. Hill

While discovering the erotic romance subgenre, i really didn't expect to find myself so deeply involved in a book , i opened it and couldn't close it even when i found myself crying torrents of tears... i had to be taken out of the room and the book taken from my hands so i could regroup a little and it took only one hour before i jumped back in the story for the last chapters.

This book was a marvellous discovery for me so highly recommend it but be cautious if you are as emotional as me. So it's with a real pleasure that i introduce you to A Mermaid's Kiss by Joey W. Hill ( and i was raked another book of this author , another series though,so i would be very happy to read it soon thank you once again Jana)

All the best,

Short description from goodreads :

The angelic Jonah has been battling the Dark Ones for centuries. But his noble spirit has begun to tire with the weight of war allowing a Dark One to strike a blow that severs his wings and knocks him into the sea.

Anna is a Daughter of Arianne -a direct descendant of the mermaid of legend. Anna’s longing for love compels her to risk her very life to protect and hide the fallen Jonah. And the longer Jonah delays his return to the heavens, the more Anna’s secret passions are tempted.

But as she falls more in love with him, Anna wonders if she’s destined to lose her heart and her dreams to save Jonah’s soul?

My opinion:
Highly romantic and emotional, this is a wonderful adventure where the erotic part blends perfectly in the story. However better to say it now: keep a box of tissues at hand!!

I was immediately driven by the story written by Joey W. Hill, and the numerous erotic scenes didn’t bother me at all since they were so part of the tales and I was so immerse in it that at a time I became a really wreck, crying like a baby but not wanting to close the book. My mother had to take it from me so I managed a small break to stop crying and breath again….so yes I was completely utterly IN the story. So even if it could be seen as a small spoiler I think you deserve it to avoid the devastation I felt… yes there is an happy end but you need to get to it and the road will be long and painful but foremost so well written that you will be captivated.

It’s the second series where god is female and I’m getting used to it but in this one I think it’s really shown in an interesting way. I didn’t expect to feel so enthralled by an erotic romance so it was a wonderful surprise and discovery.  Anna is a passionate character, she is alone in the mermaid world, a stranger because of her ancestry and even with her legacy she choose to see the positive of things, she is able to enjoy a small wild flower while she knows she is fated to die young. She is living her life with hope.
Jonah is a warrior but he fought for so long he forgot the reason why, he became angry, bitter after the lost of too many of his men. While hurt and alone in the sea, he wish to die, to find a kind of peace until suddenly a warm comes to his aid and he can refuse it, he did expect to see a young mermaid at his side. At her side, the ancient angel is discovering the world in a new light despite the darkness growing in him…Anna is doing all she can to help him because she has faith in him, she believes in him and too often she can see right through him and say the world he longs to hear.

Anna is able to show so much acceptance and compassion, her friendship with Mina is a good example. Mina is an outcast in the same way but Anna went to her and not only for answers, she offered her hand and heart no matter what fate dictated. David and Luc., Jonah’s friends are great and funny but also loyal. I enjoyed the angel‘s world as described by Jonah and would be happy to learn more.

It’s a beautiful romance with a lot of actions too and some humour too. I rally enjoyed this book, despite the tears sessions, and I recommend it with pleasure while waiting the occasion to get my hand on the second book of the series, I want more Mina too^^.

Half-Blood ( Covenant 1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hello to all,

just a short delay before my new review for the main topic of this month, i wanted to share with you my opinion on Halfblood , book 1 of the covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Not my favorite series from her but one that i like very much. I hoped to read book 2 this month but being sick i was late on everything so it will be for later ( while i dream of getting book 3 that was released some weeks ago)

Happy reading!

Short description from goodreads :

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

My opinion:
The description is really a good summary but let’s be honest until the end of the book I was quite confused about a lot of things. It’s not that I don’t like the book now but it’s far from my favourite and I hope Pure will be better.  I so enjoyed Obsidian, her other series, that I didn’t think I could be disappointed and the result is that I’m.
I found really difficult to identify myself to Alex. I have some difficulties to admit that she is so happy to return from where her mother tried to save her. Yes for her its means familiarity but also so many risks. She is too wild for me and I only started to appreciate her more nearly the end of the book when she tries to save her friend before that she was just too immature and keeping all her emotions to herself.

I also understand more now why the readers are for Aiden or Seth and so fierce about it. We are learning more about Aiden’s past and personality here than Seth who stays mysterious and I can say I really approve of one. Aiden is great yes, cute and seems to care for her but he doesn’t fight for her and I find that sad. Seth is arrogant, proud but he also gives her a choice and takes risks for her…so both have reasons and faults. The plot is very complex and I guess I won’t be happy before the last book when everything I hope will become clear. At the moment I find Alex to be only a tool she is not doing a lot against that, however she is also demonstrating a strong will and I hope the bit of freedom she had will help her to fight for what she wants not for what she is told to.

The writing style is still really good and enjoyable so a lot of readers of young adult book who love action, love triangle, paranormal and fantasy will be more than happy with this series.

Harvest Hunting ( Sœurs de la Lune 8) par Yasmine Galenorn

bonsoir à tous,

           La fin du mois arrive à grand pas et je suis loin d'avoir lu tout ce que j'espérais mais puisque mon état de santé n'a pas toujours été au top, je suis assez contente de ce que je suis parvenue à faire et puis il me reste quelques jours ^^;;

Bonne Lecture

Editeur VF: Milady 2012
Titre original:Harvest Hunting ( edited 2010)
Genre: bit lit, romance érotique
Violence: élevé

Langage: élevé
sexe: élevé
Public: +18ans
Prix : 7,1euro

Il me manquait vraiment quelque chose.

Score:  3/5

Short description from goodreads :

What happens when ancient magic meets the internet? One thing is certain, modern life will never be the same again.
A thousand years ago, a young thief, Tung, and a disgraced wizard, Madrick, are thrust together in an executioner’s dungeon. In the darkness, Madrick reveals an incredible secret about a legendary spell. The great spell helps them escape their prison cell... and eventually their century.
Catapulted into the present day, their lives collide with Michael, a computer hacker who plans to destroy the world’s largest bank. But sinister people are tracking their every move and they will stop at nothing to steal their spell.

My opinion:
To be honest at first I wasn’t sure what to think of it. I really liked the summary and the global idea but the beginning of the book wasn’t to my liking. I felt it was a bit rushed and the fact we got a chapter from the past and one from the present was a bit disturbing when I wasn’t sure where the author wanted to go and in the same time it was too predictable. Tung and Madrick are funny however it really started to appreciate them when they got better together; I needed them to trust each other before I could trust them. The book is getting a lot better once they arrive in the present time.

The concept of the story is quite original and well thought but the final result could have been better in my opinion still when I finished the book I could tell I wanted to know what would happen and I enjoyed the lesson. We often forget that balance is important.. “l’enfer est pavé de bonnes intentions” is an adequate saying. The characters are growing, maturing during the story. At first they don’t trust each other and every one has a special egoistical project, like they are using each others then they are learning as we are. The big villains are numerous and powerful, but also too imbued with themselves. I don’t approve of all of the heroes’ actions either but they are human beings so it’s understandable. These heroes have flaws, they are far from perfect and it’s why the reader can laugh as well as be afraid for them.
I loved the sense of justice of Michael and the fact that he could reflect on his own life so well. He is intelligent but not arrogant, manipulative but still attentive…quite a mix.

It could be an interesting book for a younger audience perhaps even starting at 12 but the humour is sometimes subtler and thus an older audience could enjoy it more but I guess it will depend on each person. It’s a big adventure with action and humour and a very, very light touch of romance so it could interest a large public.

Overall, it was a good read and I liked the book (more at the end), I think the author is quite promising and I wouldn’t mind to continue reading the series to see his writing style improving.

Short description from goodreads :

Football pro Mick Riley is an all-star, both on the field and in the bedroom. But a sexy, determinedly single mom just might be the one to throw him off his game...

For years Mick has been taking full advantage of the life available to a pro athlete: fame, fortune, and a different girl in every city. But when he meets and beds confident, beautiful event planner Tara Lincoln, he wants much more than the typical one-night stand. Too bad Tara's not interested in getting to know football's most notorious playboy any better.

As the single mother of a teenage son, the last thing Tara needs is the jet-set lifestyle of Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand was unforgettable. Tara's life is complicated enough without being thrust into the spotlight as Mick's latest girl du jour. Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn't intend to put herself out there again, especially with a heartbreaker like Mick.

But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind.

My opinion:
Far from my comfort zone but what a ride! I’m not that fond of sport but I’m going to be if all the series is like this^^.  I didn’t know what to expect in fact but certainly not that, it’s true I knew it was erotic but not at that level so it’s quite a surprise for me to have enjoyed it this much. Jaci Burton really writes well and the story is centred about the romance but not only so I spend I excellent time reading this book.

Mick was a playboy, at thirty years old he is wiser and intelligent enough to know the majority of his career is behind him however he is still playing and planning to keep doing it until he can’t anymore. All that is surrounding his sport starts to bother him a little; he doesn’t enjoy the apparitions as much as before but as a professional he accepts the fact that he must do a minimum more than playing. He never thought he would suddenly feel attracted by a woman, a normal one, mom of a teenager. It strange in the majority of the erotic romance I’ve read so far the schema is quite similar: a man, playboy, womanizer suddenly around 30 fall for a woman total opposite of the ones he dated before, a normal woman, with curse and natural beauty. .. I think I would like for once a good man who waited not one with a radical sudden change of heart. Anyway, in this case it’s really well written and not that sudden since he started to think about it before he met Tara.

Tara had a difficult life as a child and ended up pregnant at 15, not something I recommend. However, she didn’t give up at all and she is hardworking and independent. She has her own work, she is a event planner, and she take care of her son alone putting him above everything else. She has no life, all her time is working or tending to Nathan, her son. When she meets Mick she can’t understand why he wants to speak to her, wait for her…at the moment she decide to follow her heart and enjoy what it’s offered to her but she is not thinking of the long term at all. But more than great sex there is a connection between them and she is afraid of that. When Mick comes pursuing her and staying even with Nathan around, inviting them to family event…she sees something she longs for but still has reserves , thinking to protect a son who would like his mother happy and not scarifying herself for him. It’s time to learn and trust because you have to work to obtain your happiness and to keep it.

I really enjoyed the story, to the detail about protection. It can seem to be not important but for me it’s even more in a contemporary story, I appreciate that the author speak about it, makes her characters use it again and again. The message is important and perhaps it will save someone somewhere. Its proof the author thinks about her readers a minimum (at least in my opinion). I really want to read the others books of the series now even if I’m quite sure I will be blushing madly too often.
